20-year-old girl has pain under the chest

20 years old is a very young age. At this time, women rarely suffer from gynecological diseases and endocrine disorders. Because in everyone's impression, endocrine disorders and gynecological diseases mostly occur in many middle-aged people. When a 20-year-old girl feels pain under the chest, what should she do?

Breast pain

Breast pain or mastalgia affects most women. Recent surveys show that 40% of people have mild breast pain, and more than 20% have severe breast pain. In the case of severe breast pain, some women will come to the hospital for treatment because severe breast pain can affect the quality of life of some women. The more important reason is that they are afraid of whether they have other malignant tumors, such as breast cancer.

Types of breast pain

Breast pain is mainly divided into cyclical pain and non-cyclical pain. A breast pain record can be used to distinguish between these two types of pain.

What is non-cyclical pain?

Breast pain that is not related to the menstrual cycle is non-cyclical pain, which means that the pain can occur without regularity. This type of pain accounts for about 25% of all breast pain, mainly due to muscle pain caused by muscle injury, infection, etc., or pain caused by costochondritis.

What is cyclical pain?

Breast pain that is related to the menstrual cycle is cyclical pain. Generally speaking, this cyclical pain mainly occurs in women around 30-40 years old, and is most severe 7 to 10 days before menstruation. This type of pain accounts for about 75% of all pain, and the main cause is related to the cyclical changes in hormone levels in the body.

Treatment of non-cyclical breast pain

True non-cyclical breast pain is very difficult to treat, and the mainstay of treatment is wearing a firm, supportive bra and taking simple pain medications. For pain caused by tissue structures other than the breast, such as muscles or ribs, the use of appropriate antibiotics and painkillers is an effective method. If necessary, please ask a thoracic surgeon or pain physician to assist in treatment.

Treatment of period pain

Mild breast pain that occurs before menstruation and disappears after menstruation is relatively common. If a complete clinical examination does not reveal any abnormalities, no special medication is required. 85% of patients with mild pain achieve relief through psychological comfort, stress relief, rest adjustment, and advice to wear a firm, supportive bra. Only about 15% of patients have pain so severe that it affects their lives and requires special treatments such as medication.
