What to do if there are white spots on the vulva

When small white spots appear on the vulva, you must be vigilant. There are many causes. The most common one is chronic vulvar malnutrition, which is a white lesion of the vulva. Sometimes this requires regular treatment on the one hand, and on the other hand, you should strengthen the care of the private parts and try to wear loose and breathable underwear. Also, pay attention to moderate cleaning of the private parts and do not over-clean.

What is vulvar white spot disease?

The vulva is an important female reproductive organ. White spots on the vulva are relatively common, and many patients are very panicked because of this. Vulvar white spots are caused by localized loss of pigmentation on the female vulva skin.

Vulvar white spots are a type of exogenous pigment disease, and vulvar white lesions are also called chronic vulvar malnutrition. This disease may indeed bring a lot of pain and inconvenience to patients and their families, but in daily life, many people suffering from this disease do not know what they should pay attention to about this disease.

What to do if there are white spots on the vulva

(1) In daily life, you should wear loose, breathable underwear, mainly made of pure cotton, and avoid wearing underwear made of chemical fibers such as acrylic. (I wonder if your underwear is too tight or too small?)

(2) The affected area should be kept dry, ventilated and cool.

(3) Some women are overly hygienic and have the habit of washing their vulva once or several times a day. Here I suggest that since the female vulva has a self-cleaning function, it is generally sufficient to wash it 2-3 times a week. Do not use any detergents when washing (because they are generally alkaline). Just use warm water to wash, and be sure not to use too hot water.

(4) In daily life, we should pay attention to regulating life stress and emotions, and stay optimistic and cheerful.

General treatment

"Vulvar leukoplakia" must be treated long-term. Some of the skin in the affected area becomes thicker and leathery; some becomes thinner, dry and easily cracked, and even ulcers and nodules may occur. If the vulva skin turns white, you should go to the hospital for examination regardless of whether it is itchy or not. You should be more vigilant if the skin is thickened, rough, raised, ulcerated, cracked, or indurated, and surgical treatment can be performed if necessary.

Vulvar leukoplakia develops slowly, and in the past, surgical excision was mostly used to treat the chance of cancer, but surgical treatment is no longer recommended. In the late stage, the vaginal opening may contract and narrow, the vulva and clitoris will atrophy, and the surrounding tissues will lose elasticity. Since "white lesions of the vulva" are relatively stubborn, long-term treatment and regular follow-up are necessary. The best follow-up time is 3 to 6 months, and generally satisfactory results can be achieved after persistent treatment.

Vulvar leukoplakia is usually accompanied by extreme itching, which can last for several months or even 20 years. The itching occurs regardless of season or day or night, and is unbearable. If accompanied by Trichomonas vaginitis or candidal vaginitis, the itching will be aggravated. Because the cause is unknown, there is no specific treatment. You can try laser therapy or apply 2% testosterone propionate cod liver oil ointment. Usually, you should pay attention to keeping it clean and dry, avoid using soap or irritating drugs to clean the vulva, and do not eat spicy or irritating foods. Clothes should be loose and changed frequently. At the same time, you should pay attention to wearing soft cotton products. The second symptom is vaginal flatulence, which means that the vaginal opening can produce or inhale gas, and then discharge it with a sound like a fart.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, this is caused by qi deficiency, while Western medicine believes that it is related to weakness of the pubococcygeus muscles at the bottom of the perineum. Because the vulva shrinks and the vaginal opening is not closed tightly, gas can easily flow in. Pubococcygeus muscle exercises can help overcome this problem. This symptom occurs after childbirth, when the vagina has not yet recovered from dilation. The pubococcygeus muscles around the vagina become thinner and weaker and cannot close the vagina tightly, making it easy for gas to flow into or remain in the vagina. The gas is only expelled when the abdomen is contracted forcefully. If the patient can persist in exercising the pubococcygeus muscle every day, the effect will definitely be seen after a few months.
