We all know that women will produce lochia after giving birth. The shape of the so-called lochia is similar to that of menstruation, but the duration of lochia is longer than that of menstruation. Normal women will discharge lochia for about three weeks, and the amount of lochia will become less and less with the extension of time. Some women with weaker bodies will have a longer period of lochia discharge. So why is there still red lochia more than 40 days after giving birth?

The lochia will be discharged in about 3 weeks after delivery, but for some women with weaker bodies, it may take up to 6 weeks to be discharged. If the amount of lochia continues to flow out and does not decrease after this period of time, it is called "lochia imperfection".

Suggestions: It is related to physical weakness, mostly due to qi deficiency, blood stasis or blood heat. It may lead to local and systemic infection, and in severe cases, sepsis may occur. The main principles should be to tonify deficiency and remove blood stasis. Use warm water to dissolve 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution. The diet should be light and nutritious. You can eat chicken soup, longan soup, jujube soup, fresh lotus root, pear, cucumber, watermelon, tomato and other fruits. Be careful when eating raw, cold or spicy food. Try postpartum lochia cream.

Consider the possibility of menstruation recovery. Menstruation usually resumes 6 weeks after delivery. If the color is bright red and there are no other discomforts, it can be considered as menstruation. Generally, women who are not breastfeeding will resume menstruation 6 to 8 weeks after delivery, while breastfeeding women can resume menstruation as early as 8 weeks after delivery and as late as more than 1 year. Most people's first menstrual flow is larger than usual, and the second menstrual flow can be normal.

Suggestions: It is recommended to continue observing. As long as it does not exceed the menstrual period, it is normal. If the bleeding continues for a long time, the amount of bleeding is heavy, and exceeds the menstrual period, please go to the hospital for B-ultrasound, gynecological examination, etc., and follow the doctor's advice for treatment.

The timing of menstruation after childbirth varies from person to person, and this is normal.

Suggestions: For those who don't have breast milk, menstruation will come 6-8 weeks after delivery, and ovulation will resume in 10 weeks. For those who have breast milk, menstruation will come 4-5 months after delivery. Some people don't have menstruation during the entire lactation period. For those who resume menstruation later after delivery, ovulation often occurs before the first menstrual period.
