Sleeping posture at night during menstruation

Sleeping posture at night during menstruation

Menstruation is a physiological cyclical period that occurs in some reproductive female humans, apes, and other animals. Cows, sows, female camels, pigs, and ewes also have their periods, and some mammals experience estrus cycles in person. Maintain a good sleeping position as long as it allows you to have a smooth menstrual period and feel comfortable all over.

1. Lie on your side. Sleeping on your side can indeed relieve the abdomen from getting enough sleep, and you should also pay attention to the bloating feeling of the sleeping posture. However, everyone knows that sleeping on your side has advantages and disadvantages to the human body, especially for women. Sleeping on your side can easily put pressure on the chest, increase the pressure on the chest, heart, lungs and face, affect breathing, and cause swelling of the face after waking up, bloodshot eyes, etc. Therefore, if you don't want your sleeping posture to ruin your appearance, it's best not to adopt this sleeping posture.

2. Lie flat. There are many kinds of supine sleeping postures. You can sleep with your hands on both sides of the body like a soldier, or you can sleep horizontally on the bed with your arms and legs spread out like an octopus... But no matter which supine sleeping posture you choose, it may seem that it will not cause a threat to the internal organs of the human body, but it actually has a great impact on the uterus. Under normal circumstances, the normal position of the uterus of a normal adult woman is in the center of the pelvis, with the uterus extending forward and the cervix forming an angle of 120 to 150 degrees with the uterus. If you sleep in a lying position for a long time, it is likely to cause the uterus to shift, the most common of which is retroverted uterus, which means that the uterus no longer extends forward and the body will undergo qualitative changes.

When menstruation comes, the soft tissue of the uterus will be hematoma and edema. If the uterus is retroverted, it will compress the nerves around the pelvis, causing symptoms such as menstrual pain and general weakness. In addition, the retroverted uterus may also pull the cervix up, causing sperm to be unable to successfully enter the cervical canal, thus causing infertility. Eventually, the uterus tilts backward, which may cause blood flow to become blocked in the pelvis, causing too much blood to accumulate in the pelvis and increase the amount of menstruation.

3. Sleep on your side. Side sleeping is divided into right side sleeping and left side sleeping. Lying on the left side will compress the heart, causing poor blood circulation and causing physical discomfort; while lying on the right side is conducive to blood circulation, so that the internal organs of the human body can function normally, with adequate blood supply, which is conducive to menstrual discharge. Therefore, there is no doubt that sleeping on the right side is the most suitable sleeping position during menstruation.

Generally speaking, if you use extra night sanitary napkins properly, leakage is not likely to occur when sleeping on the right side. If you are really worried, you can put ordinary old clothes on the sheets, or sew a few "leakage-proof" sheets. The area of the sheets does not need to be too large, just enough to catch the discharged menstrual blood, and it is also easy to clean.
