What does the miscarriage check include?

There are many types of abortion, the most common ones are artificial abortion and spontaneous abortion. Artificial abortion is further divided into medical abortion and surgical abortion. No matter what factors cause miscarriage, you need to check your body regularly after miscarriage to check its recovery. Many people do not understand the situation and are concerned about the content of the miscarriage check-up. So, what does the follow-up examination for miscarriage check? Let’s take a closer look below.

Generally speaking, a small amount of vaginal bleeding within 3 to 10 days after painless abortion is normal. If bleeding continues after 10 days, return to the hospital for a follow-up visit in time. Again, if you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, or vaginal bleeding exceeding menstrual volume after the operation, you should also return for a follow-up visit at any time. In addition, menstruation will generally resume about one month after the operation. If menstruation still does not come after several days, you should return for a follow-up visit in time.

What to check after painless abortion:

1. Routine gynecological examination: check the condition of the cervix and vagina.

2. Check leucorrhea: to see if there is acute inflammatory infection.

3. B-ultrasound examination: check the recovery of the endometrium and whether there is incomplete miscarriage.

Complications of abortion

Complications during the operation: uterine bleeding of more than 200 ml; artificial abortion syndrome, also known as cardio-cerebral syndrome, with an incidence of 12%. The patient suddenly develops a series of symptoms such as bradycardia, arrhythmia, low blood pressure, pale face, profuse sweating, etc., and severe cases may even experience fainting and convulsions; uterine perforation; missed aspiration, the embryonic tissue cannot be aspirated out, and the pregnancy continues to develop.

Recent complications: incomplete artificial abortion, vaginal bleeding lasting more than 15 days after surgery; endometritis, adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. due to infection with pathogenic bacteria within 2 weeks after surgery; intrauterine blood accumulation; intrauterine adhesions, postoperative amenorrhea or significantly reduced menstrual volume, sometimes accompanied by periodic lower abdominal pain or uterine enlargement and blood accumulation.

Long-term complications: chronic pelvic inflammatory disease; menstrual abnormalities; secondary infertility; endometriosis.

Complications during subsequent pregnancy: infertility; higher rate of late miscarriage; higher rate of premature birth; higher perinatal mortality rate; increased rate of antepartum and postpartum hemorrhage; increased rate of neonatal hemolytic disease.

Medical abortion is suitable for women within 49 days of amenorrhea. The incomplete abortion and abortion failure rates of domestically produced mifepristone are about 10%; the side effects of medical abortion include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue and other early pregnancy reactions, and a significant increase in lower abdominal pain; the bleeding time after medical abortion is long, an average of about half a month, and some as long as 1-2 months, and there is a potential risk of heavy bleeding; during medical abortion, some pregnant women have amenorrhea within 40 days, at which time it is difficult to clinically confirm whether it is an ectopic or intrauterine pregnancy, so sometimes misdiagnosis is used and medical abortion is used, and internal bleeding and shock occur later, requiring emergency treatment.
