Why is it itchy down there in late pregnancy?

Perhaps all women who have been pregnant have experienced this situation: unbearable itching down there in the late stages of pregnancy. This situation has a great impact on pregnant women. Eating and sleeping will be very uncomfortable. This situation may be caused by vaginitis due to the fact that pregnant women do not pay enough attention to the hygiene of private parts, which should be treated in time. So let’s explain in detail what causes the itchiness down there in the late pregnancy.

Vulvar itching in pregnant women is mostly caused by vaginitis, among which candidal vaginitis is the most common. Women are very likely to be infected with Candida albicans after pregnancy. If the condition is serious, it is best for mothers to go to the hospital. Pay special attention to your own hygiene and cleanliness. Wear soft, cotton underwear with good ventilation and air permeability. Change them every day and wash the vulva with warm water every day. The basin and towel used to wash the vulva should be disinfected with boiling water to avoid infection.

Western medicine treatment of vaginitis

1. Trichomonas vaginitis:

a. Systemic medication: Trichomonas vaginitis is often accompanied by Trichomonas infection in the urogenital system and intestines. It is not easy to completely eliminate Trichomonas with simple local medication, so systemic medication should be used. Metronidazole 2g, taken all at once; or 200mg, 3 times a day, for 7 days. It has good oral absorption, high efficacy, low toxicity, and is easy to use. The husband or sexual partner needs to be treated at the same time. You can also use 2g of metronidazole, taken all at once. The efficacy is better than metronidazole, and the gastrointestinal side effects are reduced.

b. Topical medication: Topical medication is also effective, but slightly inferior to oral administration. Metronidazole 200 mg, inserted into the vagina once every night for 7-10 days. The medication should be continued for 3 cycles. You can also use 0.5% acetic acid solution to flush the vagina.

2. Vulvovaginal candidiasis:

a. Remove the inducement: stop using antibiotics and estrogen, etc., and actively treat diabetes.

b. Topical medication: Choose one of the following:

Miconazole soft capsule 1200 mg, single dose. Miconazole suppository/soft capsule 400 mg, once every night for 3 days. Miconazole suppository 200 mg, once every night for 7 days. Clotrimazole suppository/tablet 500 mg, single dose. Clotrimazole suppository 100 mg, once every night for 7 days. Nystatin effervescent tablets 100,000 U, once a night for 14 days. Nystatin tablets 500,000 U, once a night for 14 days.

c. Systemic medication: Suitable for unmarried women without sex life, those who are inconvenient to use local medication when going out, and those who are about to have their menstrual period. Fluconazole 150 mg, taken once.
