There is a smell after menstruation

Many women have a severe odor in their lower body after menstruation, which is actually abnormal. Generally speaking, if women pay attention to personal hygiene, there will be no odor in their lower body. This situation may occur if the sebaceous glands secrete too much or if endometrium is present. In addition, inflammation of the vagina will also cause odor. In short, if you feel an odor in your lower body, it is best to go to the hospital's gynecology department for a physical examination.

1. Vaginitis Vaginitis is clinically characterized by changes in the properties of leucorrhea and itching and burning pain in the vulva. It is also common to have an odor during menstruation. When the infection involves the urethra, there may be symptoms such as urinary pain and urgency. Common vaginitis includes bacterial vaginosis, Trichomonas vaginitis, candidal vaginitis, and senile vaginitis.

2. Pelvic inflammatory disease The main causes of acute pelvic inflammatory disease are postpartum or abortion infection, postoperative infection after intrauterine surgery, poor menstrual hygiene, and direct spread of inflammation of adjacent organs. The clinical manifestations may vary depending on the severity and extent of the inflammation. When the disease occurs, there is lower abdominal pain and fever. If the condition is serious, there may be chills, high fever, headache, and loss of appetite. If the disease occurs during menstruation, there may be increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstruation. If the disease occurs during non-menstrual period, there may be increased leucorrhea and odor during menstruation.

3. What is the reason why women have odor in their lower body during menstruation? Gynecological experts said that the odor of women's menstruation is generally because the menstrual blood is mixed with blood, secretions of the endometrium and sebaceous glands, and sweat, so there will be a more obvious odor. As long as there are no other symptoms, pay more attention to the cleanliness of the vulva and change sanitary napkins frequently, there is nothing abnormal.

4. However, if the odor does not improve despite paying attention to personal hygiene, and becomes more severe and is accompanied by itching, then you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. This condition is most likely caused by gynecological diseases, such as pelvic inflammatory disease.
