How does sperm enter the uterus?

We all know that only when the female egg and the male sperm combine to form a fertilized egg can they implant in the female uterus, and only then can the female become pregnant. However, there are still many people who do not have comprehensive knowledge of pregnancy preparation and do not understand how the male sperm enters the female uterus. They feel particularly confused about pregnancy. So how does the sperm enter the uterus?

How sperm reaches deep into the female uterus

In some videos, sperm are often seen swimming around with their tails wagging, but recent research paints a completely different picture.

Newer research suggests that sperm do not actually swim in as rumored. In fact, in the real vaginal environment, they are more like crawling along the vaginal wall, and the process of penetration is more tortuous and complicated than we imagined, because the vagina is full of sticky fluid.

That is, their movement is more like a crawl. So now you can imagine these long, eel-like creatures slowly crawling along the vaginal walls until they reach deep into the woman's abdomen. And they move blindly, so they often bump into the vaginal wall.

Dr Petr Denissenko, one of the leaders of the study from the University of Warwick, said: "When I first saw how stubbornly the sperm kept bumping into walls and turning in a narrow passage, I couldn't help laughing. There is nothing funnier than a sperm that can't find its way."

In short, it is a good thing that scientists now have a clearer understanding of the activity patterns of sperm. The next step is to study why some sperm are stronger and can more efficiently target eggs and arrive in place quickly.
