Bleeding in stool after cesarean section

Bleeding in stool after cesarean section

After a certain period of pregnancy, the mother can go to the hospital to prepare for delivery. Due to the different physical conditions of pregnant women, giving birth is very difficult for some pregnant women, which is equivalent to walking through the gates of hell; some pregnant women can give birth easily. When giving birth, it is either a natural birth or a caesarean section. The technology of caesarean section is now more mature and the risks are generally not high. What happens if there is blood in the stool after a caesarean section?

Women are relatively weak after a caesarean section. Due to different physical conditions of the mothers after delivery, some abnormal symptoms often occur, which adds a lot of troubles to the mothers. This is very bad for their recovery. So is it normal to have bleeding in the stool after a caesarean section?

Is it normal to have blood in your stool after a cesarean section?

If there is blood in the stool after a caesarean section, it may be due to excessive heat. You should pay attention to your diet, eat vegetables and fruits, and drink plenty of water, otherwise you will feel very hot.

The most common causes of bleeding in the stool after cesarean section are anal fissures or hemorrhoids. Most patients with anal fissure have dry stools and pain during defecation. The pain is relieved after defecation, but the pain reappears after relief. There is blood on the surface of the stool and a little blood dripping from the anus. Patients with hemorrhoids have dry stools, blood on the stool surface, and lumps protrude from the anus during defecation. The inability to retract the stool after defecation is called incarceration, and there is obvious pain. It is recommended to eat a light diet, drink plenty of water, eat more vegetables and fruits, improve symptoms, and visit the anorectal department if necessary.

A cesarean section is a way of giving birth by cutting open the abdominal wall and uterus to remove the fetus. Although cesarean section can avoid the pain caused by natural childbirth, compared with natural childbirth, the damage to the mother's body after cesarean section will be relatively greater, and it will also cause more problems, one of which is black stool after cesarean section.

If your stool is black after delivery, one possibility is that you have intestinal bleeding. Another possibility is that you have taken some medicine that caused the color change, not bleeding. It is not yet certain which case you have. You need to ask the doctor who prescribes the medicine to see if any of the medicines prescribed for you have such an effect. If not, then you have intestinal bleeding.

Defecation time after cesarean section

Many mothers who have had a caesarean section experience difficulty urinating and defecating. Due to the extreme stretching and expansion of the pelvic floor muscles, congestion and edema during delivery, and fatigue of the abdominal muscles in the second stage of labor, their elasticity cannot be restored in a short period of time. In addition, excessive breath holding, excessive shouting, deep breathing, water and electrolyte disorders during delivery lead to slower intestinal peristalsis, resulting in weakened postpartum defecation function and inability to effectively excrete feces. Patients who have a normal vaginal delivery usually recover their bowel movement function about 24 hours after delivery, while those who have a cesarean section usually have a bowel movement 48 to 72 hours after the operation.

Generally speaking, women who have undergone cesarean section can start defecating within 6 days. If they cannot defecate within 6 days after the operation, it is considered as postpartum defecation difficulty. If you have difficulty defecating, you can start from the following aspects:

1. In terms of diet, eat more green vegetables to absorb dietary fiber, ensure you drink enough water, and you can eat foods that have the function of lubricating the intestines, such as honey water and bananas.

2. Exercise moderately. For mothers who have undergone cesarean section without complications, they can try to walk around indoors on the second day after delivery. If there are complications, they must follow the doctor's instructions and not get out of bed too early.

3. If the bowel movement takes too long, you can consult a doctor and prescribe some Chinese patent medicine to relieve constipation.
