Bleeding in the stool during menstruation

Bleeding in the stool during menstruation

For every female friend, menstruation must be a very frequent and very common thing, because for every woman, menstruation is something that everyone must experience. And it is the blood produced by the normal reactions of some functions of our body. However, some people have irregular menstruation, so let us understand what bleeding in the stool during menstruation means.

1. Causes

(1) Uterine hypoplasia, lack of endometrium, malposition or deformity are all causes of missed periods. This is because uterine lesions lead to ovarian dysfunction, and ovarian function is controlled by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. If the ovaries are dysfunctional, it will inevitably cause menstrual disorders.

(2) Traditional Chinese medicine has the theory that menstrual blood flows out of the large intestine, causing irregular menstrual flow or "premenstrual bloody stool" or "blind menstruation". And believe that the main reasons for the misalignment are:

1. Insufficient Yin blood, coupled with excessive mental work, such as sentimentality, excessive worry, emotional frustration, anxiety, irritability, etc., leading to Yin deficiency;

2. A love of spicy and roasted food will cause internal heat accumulation and damage to the yin meridians;

3. Spleen deficiency cannot regulate blood, liver deficiency cannot store blood, kidney deficiency cannot absorb blood, and blood in the uterus grows abnormally. It seems that irregular menstruation is related to emotions, diet, and diseases of the spleen, liver, and kidneys.

Types of blood in stool

The most common symptom type of bloody stool during menstruation is gastrointestinal heat syndrome. The cause of gastrointestinal heat stagnation is mostly related to the daily habit of eating spicy and hot foods, or drinking alcohol indiscriminately, which leads to the long-term accumulation of heat evil. Therefore, "Ye's Bamboo Grove Women's Medicine" said: Irregular menstruation is caused by eating too much hot food over a long period of time. According to the analysis of meridian theory, the stomach and large intestine both belong to the Yangming meridian, while the Chong meridian, which is connected to the uterus, also belongs to the Yangming meridian. Therefore, when menstruation is about to come or has already arrived, due to the flow of qi and blood into the uterus, the qi of the Chong meridian becomes hyperactive. The Chong qi flows through the Yangming meridian and induces heat accumulation in the intestines, causing the blood vessels in the intestines to be burned, thus causing bloody stools. The clinical characteristics of this syndrome are that bloody stools often occur one or two days before menstruation, and the amount of blood is large and the blood is dark red. Due to blood loss in the anus, the menstrual volume decreases, and the menstrual blood becomes purple-red and viscous. It is also accompanied by flushed cheeks, dry mouth and throat, dry stool and yellow urine, red tongue with yellow coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.

In addition to gastrointestinal heat syndrome, other common syndromes include yin deficiency and blood heat and spleen failure to control syndrome.

Yin deficiency and blood heat syndrome is more common in women with Yin deficiency constitution. For example, long-term illness or multiple miscarriages, or worry, depression and anger that turn into fire over time, can all consume the Yin essence and lead to a deficiency of Yin blood. When menstruation comes, the yin deficiency becomes worse due to the discharge of menstrual blood. When Yin is deficient, fire is strong, which forces blood to flow and overflow into the large intestine, thus causing bloody stools. The characteristic of this syndrome is that blood in the stool mostly occurs during menstruation, the amount of blood is not much, it drips down, and the blood is dark red. Since the pathogenesis is yin deficiency and blood heat, the menstrual volume is small and dark in color. At the same time, it is accompanied by dizziness, fever in the five parts of the body, hot flashes and night sweats, sore waist and weak legs, as well as a red tongue with little coating and a weak pulse.
