Effects of intercourse on the fetus during early pregnancy

Effects of intercourse on the fetus during early pregnancy

During pregnancy, there are generally many things to pay attention to in order to ensure the healthy development of the child. For example, for a couple, if they want to have sexual intercourse, there are many things they need to pay attention to. During the first three months of pregnancy, sexual intercourse is prohibited because it is very likely to cause miscarriage. In addition, you should not have sex after the 36th week of pregnancy, because the placenta begins to descend and the pregnant woman will have difficulty moving.

1. Will having sex during pregnancy harm the fetus?

Some people say that having sex during pregnancy can harm the fetus and easily lead to miscarriage or heavy bleeding. Others believe that appropriate sex at certain stages of pregnancy is beneficial to the fetus and is good for the fetus's growth. The truth is, for most normal pregnant women, having sex during pregnancy will not harm the fetus. As long as the expectant father and mother are healthy, they can still have normal sexual life during the 5th to 8th month of pregnancy.

If the following may endanger the health and safety of the expectant mother and fetus, try not to have sex:

1. Past experience of miscarriage: If the expectant mother has had a miscarriage in the past, the doctor will recommend that the pregnant woman abstain from sexual intercourse in the first few months of pregnancy until the risk period of miscarriage is over.

2. When there is a threat of miscarriage: If the expectant mother has vaginal bleeding during or after sexual intercourse, or has lower abdominal pain, she should see a doctor for a check-up. If there are signs of miscarriage, she should temporarily stop having sex.

3. The expectant father suffers from a sexually transmitted disease: The bacteria of sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted to the pregnant woman and fetus during sexual intercourse, so sexual intercourse should be prohibited until he is completely cured.

4. Vaginitis in expectant mothers: Bacteria can be transmitted to the fetus during sexual intercourse, so sexual intercourse should be prohibited until the disease is completely cured.

5. When there is a problem with the placenta: If the expectant mother has placenta previa, or the placenta is not tightly connected to the uterus, sexual intercourse may cause miscarriage. Sexual intercourse should be temporarily stopped and resumed only after the situation stabilizes.

2. How many months of pregnancy can you have sex?

1. During the first 3 months of pregnancy: sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited. During the first three months of pregnancy, the fetus is not yet stable. At the same time, for pregnant women, the symptoms of early pregnancy are very obvious and they generally don’t have much sexual interest. Sexual intercourse in the early stage can easily cause uterine contractions and lead to miscarriage.

2. After 36 weeks: sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited. After 36 weeks, the placenta begins to descend. Many pregnant women have severe edema in their hands and feet, which makes it difficult for them to move. Some pregnant mothers have already begun preparing for delivery. Having sex at this time can also easily cause uterine contractions and lead to premature birth of the fetus.

3. Suitable time for sexual intercourse during pregnancy: Generally, during the 5th to 8th month of pregnancy, the fetus is basically stable, and sexual intercourse is recommended during this period.

3. Precautions for sex during pregnancy

1. Before sexual intercourse, both husband and wife should clean the vulva and keep it hygienic to prevent bacteria from invading the body of the pregnant woman.

2. Pay attention to the sexual intercourse posture to prevent abdominal pressure. The postures that should be avoided are: flexed position, riding position and elbow-knee position.

3. The duration and intensity of sexual intercourse should be appropriate, the movements should be gentle, avoid excessive stimulation, and the duration should be shortened accordingly.

4. Be considerate and caring towards your wife, respect her, and strictly prohibit forced sexual intercourse.

5. Use condoms. Semen is rich in prostaglandins, which can cause the smooth muscles of the uterus and fallopian tubes to contract. It is recommended that expectant fathers use condoms during sexual intercourse.
