Vaginal dryness after cesarean section

Vaginal dryness after cesarean section

Cesarean section is a way of giving birth for pregnant women. This operation requires surgery and the baby is taken directly out of the belly. However, there are many complications after this operation, including vaginal dryness after surgery. This situation can be caused by many reasons. So what causes vaginal dryness after cesarean section?

Postpartum women may experience vaginal dryness and other discomfort during sexual intercourse, so they should generally choose condoms containing lubricants or female topical spermicides or Vaseline as lubricants to increase vaginal lubrication. As long as you open your mind and don't have too many worries, you will slowly adapt.

It will take about two months for a woman's body functions to return to normal after a caesarean section, and she can gradually resume sexual intercourse. After a caesarean section, sexual intercourse must be gentle and moderate to avoid causing genital lacerations. Some posture changes are needed to prevent the wound from healing, and the husband needs to understand that if the woman feels uncomfortable, she should stop immediately. Generally speaking, you can have sex only after there is no lochia after a caesarean section and the wound has healed completely.

When women are breastfeeding after childbirth, the high prolactin secretion in the body will inhibit the normal endocrine function of the ovaries, causing the vagina to lack sufficient estrogen support, and the gland's secretion capacity is reduced, which may also lead to pain and dryness during intercourse. Premature sexual intercourse may cause inflammation such as cervicitis, endometritis, adnexitis, or hinder the healing of perineum and vaginal wounds, as well as the recovery of postpartum health.

Note: When having sex after a caesarean section, the movements must be gentle and moderate. Do not have sex too frequently and the movements should not be too violent to avoid causing genital lacerations.

The wound and surrounding area of women who have undergone cesarean section may feel numb for several months or even a year after the operation because the nerves and tissues therein are stretched or damaged during the operation. This is normal and will gradually recover over time. If your husband feels uncomfortable when he touches your numb area during sex, you should tell him so that he can reduce touching this area.

If you breastfeed after giving birth, the estrogen level in your body will be relatively low, which will reduce your vaginal secretions during intercourse, causing pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse. If you have this problem, you may consider using lubricants to replace vaginal secretions to reduce discomfort during sexual intercourse.

During intercourse, don't forget to take contraceptive measures to avoid getting pregnant again. If you indulge in temporary pleasure and get pregnant again, it will cause great harm to the uterus that has not yet fully repaired.
