Do I need to fast for vaginal ultrasound?

Do I need to fast for vaginal ultrasound?

As we all know, pregnant women need to undergo regular prenatal checkups, which is very normal. B-ultrasound is a very common method of prenatal checkups. B-ultrasound can show the growth and development of the fetus, etc. Does B-ultrasound have any effect on the fetus? So, will vaginal ultrasound affect embryo implantation? Do I need to be on an empty stomach for a transvaginal ultrasound?

Pregnant women generally do not need to fast when doing B-ultrasound, and eating before B-ultrasound will not affect the data. In addition, if it is an ultrasound examination in the early stages of pregnancy, you need to hold your urine in advance and accumulate a certain amount of urine in the bladder so that you can see it clearly.

Does B-ultrasound have any effect on the fetus?

It is generally believed that B-ultrasound is a non-invasive examination that is harmless to the examiner. Especially compared with X-ray, MRI and other examination instruments, B-ultrasound is relatively safe for the human body. But ultrasound is ultimately a form of energy. When used in a certain amount, it will produce microbial effects in the subject's body, causing damage to some cells that produce microbial effects.

There is already evidence from overseas that B-ultrasound is harmful to the fetus. Some experts selected women who were 7-8 weeks pregnant and preparing for abortion, and divided them into three groups according to the length of their B-ultrasound examination time: 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 10 minutes for comparative observation. The results showed that before the B-ultrasound examination, the embryos of these pregnant women were developing well; after the B-ultrasound examination, except for 5 cases with no changes at 1 minute, the villi of other test tube embryos were deformed, showing disordered cell arrangement and vesicular structures in the cells. Further development may also cause fetal malformations or miscarriage. Obviously, the longer the B-ultrasound is directly applied to the test tube embryo, the greater the adverse effects will be.

In most organs of the body, damage to a few cells is not a big deal, but if it is cells or embryos in a sensitive stage of development that are damaged, the consequences will be serious. Therefore, it is best not to do B-ultrasound more than 3 times during pregnancy. Gynecological B-ultrasound in the early stage of pregnancy has a certain impact on the newborn, while no adverse effects are seen in the newborns who have undergone gynecological B-ultrasound in the middle and late stages of pregnancy. Therefore, obstetrics and gynecology B-ultrasound examinations during early pregnancy should be used with caution.
