Vaginal bleeding 42 days after delivery

Vaginal bleeding 42 days after delivery

Many women experience significant physical changes after giving birth. Generally speaking, it is very important for women to take care of themselves after giving birth. Some women also experience vaginal bleeding after giving birth. This situation is related to many factors. Vaginal bleeding 42 days after giving birth is a serious problem. If it is not treated properly, it will also affect people's bodies. So what is going on with women having vaginal bleeding 42 days after giving birth?

1. Postpartum lochia

The reason for the formation of postpartum lochia is that after delivery, the blood sinuses at the site of placenta attachment gradually close. There will be some bleeding during this process. In addition, after pregnancy, the endometrium thickens to become the decidua. After delivery, the hormone level drops significantly and the decidua falls off. During the alternating process of decidua shedding and new endometrium growing, there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding.

2. Postpartum menstruation

The onset of postpartum menstruation is related to whether or not the woman breastfeeds, the length of breastfeeding, the age of the mother, and the ability of the ovarian function to recover. There are also great individual differences in the resumption of menstruation after childbirth. Some women may resume menstruation one year after delivery. Generally speaking, for mothers who are not breastfeeding, menstruation usually resumes 6-10 weeks after delivery, and ovulation resumes on average around 10 weeks after delivery. The menstrual cycle of breastfeeding mothers is delayed, and some women do not have menstruation at all during the postpartum period. On average, ovulation resumes 4-6 months after delivery.

3. Others

This may not be a formal menstruation, or it may be very little, or it may be that the ovarian function has begun to recover, but whether ovulation has occurred or not still needs to be observed. It's only been three months. If you observe for another month or two and the period is still so scanty, or if it is abnormal, I suggest you go to the hospital for a check-up. One reason for such scanty menstruation may be that the endometrium is thicker and lacks the effect of progesterone, resulting in incomplete shedding and a small amount of menstruation. In addition, the ovarian egg cells produce very little hormone, and the endometrium does not grow at all. At this time, the menstrual flow will be very little. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a check-up and do a B-ultrasound to check the condition of the endometrium.
