What happens if you get pregnant with polycystic ovary?

Polycystic ovary is a disease caused by endocrine abnormalities and is an important factor leading to female infertility. However, not all polycystic ovary patients are incapable of pregnancy. Some women can still become pregnant successfully after suffering from the disease. However, because polycystic ovary is a very special disease, there are concerns that it will have an adverse effect on the development of the fetus. So, what happens if you get pregnant with polycystic ovary? Let’s take a look below.

Polycystic ovary syndrome may be the culprit for embryonic development arrest and miscarriage, but patients with polycystic ovary syndrome are not necessarily incapable of pregnancy. It’s just that some problems are more likely to occur after pregnancy, such as embryonic development arrest and miscarriage. The reason is that PCOS can cause endocrine disorders in patients, and endocrine disorders in pregnant women can make it difficult for the fetus to obtain sufficient nutrition in the early stages of development, which can cause the embryo to stop developing and cause miscarriage.

Of course, if the disease is cured well, then life can still be conceived normally. It is worth mentioning that some patients with polycystic ovary syndrome are particularly prone to pregnancy and are also prone to multiple births. This situation also requires extra caution. If the fetus reduction is not performed under the guidance of a doctor, each fertilized egg will be underdeveloped, leading to miscarriage. If you have polycystic ovary syndrome, you must do so under the guidance of a doctor if you want to get pregnant.

There are many reasons for infertility. Even if you have polycystic ovary syndrome, other infertility factors must be ruled out. First, we need to check whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed and whether the uterus is normal. We also need to check whether there are any problems with the man’s sperm. If everything is normal, we can use ovulation-stimulating drugs to treat polycystic ovary syndrome based on hormone levels. However, the number of eggs a woman has in her lifetime is limited, so never induce ovulation blindly. Patients need to adjust their lifestyle reasonably, exercise more, eat more high-fiber vegetables, and promote metabolism, which are all conducive to conception.

The main risks of polycystic ovary syndrome are:

1. Secondary infertility: Infertility caused by polycystic ovary syndrome is mostly anovulatory infertility, the most obvious manifestation of which is amenorrhea. The reason is that the ovarian cyst wall is too thick, which prevents the egg from being discharged and combining with the sperm. This is the main cause of female infertility.

2. Leading to menstrual abnormalities: mainly including oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea (ampenorrhea accounts for 1/3, oligomenorrhea accounts for 90%). Some patients also show continuous menstruation, which leads to various diseases such as anemia.

3. Impact on appearance: Patients often suffer from facial acne (pimples), which will leave permanent scars and pockmarks on the face after pus comes out. If it is not treated early, the appearance cannot be restored even after recovery.

4. Concurrent malignant tumors: Long-term and continuous stimulation of the endometrium by estrogen can easily lead to excessive endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, and menstrual bleeding. Delayed menopause can easily lead to endometrial cancer.

5. Other hazards: Studies have found that 30 years later, the incidence of hypertension in such patients is 8 times higher than that of normal women, the incidence of diabetes is 6 times higher, the incidence of endometrial cancer and breast cancer is 2 times higher, and the incidence of heart disease and myocardial infarction is also significantly increased.
