The biggest benefit for women after having an IUD inserted is that they can get rid of the troubles of condoms and birth control pills, and can almost achieve the effect of safe contraception. However, there are also some unexpected situations. The main one is that the body cannot adapt quickly after the IUD is inserted, so some special reactions will occur. Some women find that their vagina is bleeding continuously after having an IUD inserted, and the amount is quite heavy. What should they do? Most people will experience more or less bleeding after having an IUD inserted. In addition to an increase in menstrual blood volume, there will also be spotting after menstruation and bloody vaginal discharge. Most people will gradually get better and return to normal after a period of time. The compression of the endometrium by the contraceptive ring can cause local congestion, edema, and even necrosis, forming ulcers and bleeding in the compressed area. This condition is related to the inadaptability of a few people and can usually heal itself after a period of time. After the contraceptive ring is placed in the uterine cavity, a small amount of vaginal bleeding may occur in the short term, which usually lasts for 3-7 days and then stops naturally. If it lasts for more than 10 days, it is an abnormal phenomenon. In the early stages of wearing the IUD, especially in the first three months, some women will experience varying degrees of increase in menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual periods, or irregular spotting. Generally, it will get better naturally after three months. If the menstrual volume increases by 1-2 times compared to before the ring is inserted, or the irregular bleeding lasts for a long time, anemia may have occurred and you should seek medical attention immediately. The main cause of vaginal bleeding after IUD insertion is that the mechanical pressure of the ring damages the endometrium, causing local congestion and edema, and capillaries are eroded and damaged, resulting in bleeding. If the size and model of the ring do not match the size and shape of the uterine cavity, or if the ring is obviously deformed, bleeding will be aggravated. In addition, after the contraceptive ring damages the endometrium, it causes the release of a series of biochemical mediators, which hinder blood coagulation, dilate blood vessels and increase permeability, all of which increase the amount of bleeding. Do I need to remove the ring? It is recommended to go to the hospital first to check the position and shape of the IUD in the uterine cavity, and whether the IUD is twisted, deformed, or embedded in the uterine wall. If the above situation occurs, the ring should be removed and other contraceptive methods should be used. After 1 to 2 months, when the endometrium is repaired and healed, the IUD can be re-inserted. Of course, if there is no abnormality in the shape and position of the IUD in the uterine cavity and other causes of bleeding are ruled out, hemostatic treatment can be carried out under the guidance of a doctor. After a period of time, the amount of bleeding may decrease; if the treatment is ineffective, the IUD needs to be removed. Gynecologists remind us that it is more appropriate to insert the IUD within 3 to 7 days after the menstrual period ends, because the chance of pregnancy during this time is very small; and the endometrium is in the proliferative stage and the endometrium is thin, so the chance of damage and bleeding after insertion is less. |
