How many days does a girl's period last?

All girls will go through the menstruation stage, which is a very normal physiological phenomenon. Menstruation is actually a detoxification reaction of the body. You must pay special attention during menstruation. The duration of menstruation varies depending on each person's physical condition. Some last longer, some last shorter. So how many days does a girl's period usually last?

Menstruation is regular monthly vaginal bleeding.

When women enter puberty, their ovaries gradually mature and begin to secrete female hormones. The endometrium changes accordingly, causing menstruation. The process of menstruation is roughly as follows: the ovaries secrete estrogen, which promotes the thickening and congestion of the endometrium. On the 14th day before the next menstrual period, the ovaries begin to ovulate and secrete large amounts of estrogen and progesterone. Under the combined action of these two hormones, the endometrium continues to thicken and become loose, preparing conditions for the implantation and development of the fertilized egg. The right egg is not fertilized, the levels of both hormones drop sharply, the endometrium peels off and bleeds, and menstruation occurs. Subsequently, under the action of female hormones, the wax in the uterus repeats the above changes.

A woman's first menstrual period is called menarche, or "menarche" for short. Menarche usually occurs at around 13-15 years of age. For those who are strong and well-nourished, it may be as early as 11-12 years of age, while for those who are weak and malnourished, it may be as late as 17-18 years of age. Menstruation before the age of 8 is precocious puberty, which is seen in ovarian and adrenal tumors. If a woman has not had her first menstruation by the age of 18, it is considered as delayed onset of sexual intercourse. In addition to amenorrhea, this condition may also be caused by poor development or malformation of the internal reproductive organs.

Normal menstruation: The average menstrual cycle is 28 days. If it is 7 days earlier or later, as long as it is basically regular, it is within the normal range. Menstruation generally lasts for 3-5 days, but the amount of menstrual blood during 1-2 menstrual periods is 20-120 ml, and most of the time it is around 50 ml. Most people experience no discomfort during menstruation, but some may experience lower abdominal pain, back pain, breast swelling, and emotional distress before or during menstruation.

What should you pay attention to during menstruation: (1) Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, wash the vulva every day and remember to wash from front to back. Generally, there is no need to use soap. Choose clean and soft sanitary napkins. (2) Keep warm and avoid taking cold baths. (3) Avoid strenuous exercise, get enough rest, and keep a happy mood.
