What will happen if you eat cold food during confinement?

We have known since childhood that girls should not eat too much cold food. We may not have fully understood it at the time, and only knew the reason after we became adults. Because women's bodies are different from men's and are more yin, eating cold food will cause adverse symptoms and harm their uterus, stomach, etc. So, during the special period of confinement, what harm will it cause if the mother eats cold food?

Women are extremely weak during the confinement period, and their organs are still recovering. If they eat cold food, they are prone to catching cold, which can lead to the following symptoms:

(1) Damage to the stomach and intestines, causing symptoms such as diarrhea and diarrhoea.

(2) Damage to the spleen and stomach.

(3) Stagnation of cold and dampness causes uterine contraction or spasm, which is not conducive to the recovery of the uterus and the body.

(4) It is not conducive to the discharge of lochia.

(5)Joint pain.

(6) It leaves sequelae, leading to habitual headaches, stomach problems, uterine cold, etc.

(7) Affects the baby’s stomach and intestines through breast milk.

What to eat during confinement

1. Eggs

If the mother feels that her digestion is good, she can start trying eggs from the second meal. Eggs are rich in nutrients, which can help new mothers restore their strength, maintain the health of the nervous system and reduce postpartum depression.

You can eat 2 to 3 eggs a day, but be sure to eat them in two meals. Boiled eggs and steamed egg custard are both good choices.

2. Honey

Honey is a natural food with high nutritional value, sufficient calories, and sweet taste. The monosaccharides it contains can be absorbed by the human body without digestion, and it has good health care effects on postpartum women. After giving birth, the mother can drink some honey water, which can help the mother recover her physical strength.

3. Brown sugar water

Mothers consume a lot of energy and physical strength during childbirth, and also lose too much blood, so they urgently need to supplement a lot of iron. Brown sugar water is very suitable for the first meal after childbirth. It not only replenishes blood, but also promotes the discharge of lochia from new mothers.

But don't drink too much brown sugar water. Generally speaking, it is best to eat 7 to 10 days after delivery, and then you should eat more nutritious and varied foods.

4. Tofu

Tofu is rich in protein and other nutrients, and has extremely high nutritional value. It has the effects of replenishing qi, clearing away heat and moistening dryness, promoting fluid production and quenching thirst, cleansing the stomach and intestines, aiding digestion, and increasing appetite. The most valuable thing is that the human body can digest and absorb the protein in tofu at a rate of 92% to 95%, making it an ideal food for postpartum women.
