There are many clinical manifestations of chronic cervicitis, such as cervical gland cysts, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, etc. Once you suffer from chronic cervicitis, you will often feel vaginal pain and itching, and unbearable pain during sexual intercourse. You must stop sexual activity, go to the gynecology department in time, and take medicine under the guidance of a doctor until you recover. Here I will introduce to you what cervical hypertrophy means? Cervical hypertrophy is a type of chronic cervicitis. Inflammatory changes caused by pathogens infecting the cervical mucosa. The pathogens that cause cervical hypertrophy include mycoplasma, chlamydia, bacteria, and viruses. It is recommended that you go to the hospital's gynecology department to have a cervical secretion examination and receive symptomatic treatment based on the examination results. If necessary, a cervical TCT examination can be performed to rule out early cervical cancer. A gynecologist at Guangzhou Ren'ai Hospital said that simple cervical hypertrophy will not affect pregnancy, but severe cervicitis can cause endometritis, salpingo-oophoritis, fallopian tube adhesions and blockages, leading to infertility. Causes of cervical hypertrophy (1) Chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation cause cervical congestion and edema, and proliferation of cervical glands and stroma, leading to varying degrees of cervical hypertrophy. (2) Mucus may accumulate deep in the cervical glands, forming cysts of varying sizes and causing the cervix to become enlarged. A gynecologist at Guangzhou Ren'ai Hospital said that cervical hypertrophy can sometimes cause the cervix to increase 2 to 4 times compared to a normal cervix, and the surface of the cervix can be smooth or eroded. The texture of the cervix is generally hard, which is caused by the hyperplasia of fibrous connective tissue. Cervical hypertrophy generally does not require treatment. If there is erosion, cervical erosion can be treated. Treatment 1. Physical therapy is suitable for moderate and severe erosions. It is currently the method with the best efficacy and the shortest treatment course, and can usually be cured in one time. 1) Electric ironing: Use the electric iron head to contact the eroded surface to coagulate the tissue and form a scab. The scab begins to fall off after about two weeks, and it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks for the wound to heal. The operation should be performed 3 to 5 days after the end of menstruation. Do not use if you have adnexitis. After treatment, leucorrhea may temporarily increase or cause bleeding. If there is a lot of bleeding, use sterile gauze to apply pressure to stop the bleeding and remove it after 24 hours. The disadvantage is that scar contraction may sometimes lead to cervical stenosis. 2) Cryotherapy uses a liquid nitrogen rapid cooling device. Place the probe on the eroded surface for 1 to 3 minutes, remove it after natural rewarming, and cause the diseased tissue to freeze and necrotize. A lot of watery discharge may occur 2 to 3 weeks after treatment. The advantage is that bleeding and cervical stenosis occur less frequently. 3) Laser treatment: Laser carbonizes and forms scabs on the eroded tissue, and the healing process is the same as the previous two treatment methods. A gynecologist at Guangzhou Ren'ai Hospital said that after physical therapy, a large amount of yellow watery leucorrhea will flow out of the vagina for varying lengths of time. The vulva should be kept clean and it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Before the wound is completely healed, bathing, sexual intercourse and vaginal douching should be avoided. After surgery, the patient can be checked once a week to observe the healing process. Note whether the cervix is narrow and if so, gently dilate it with a probe. 2. Drug treatment is suitable for mild erosion, the method is as follows: 1) Carefully apply 10-30% silver nitrate solution or 10% iodine to the affected area with a cotton swab. After applying silver nitrate, apply normal saline solution to convert excess silver nitrate into non-corrosive silver chloride. Take twice a week, 4 to 6 times as a course of treatment, and repeat if necessary. 2) Use a cotton swab to dip in potassium dichromate solution and carefully apply it to the affected area. Apply the solution once after the menstruation is over and repeat after the next menstruation. It is sometimes more effective for those with larger erosion areas. Before applying the medicine, wipe the cervical mucus with 0.1% chlorhexidine and place two cotton balls in the posterior fornix to prevent the medicine from flowing down and burning the vaginal mucosa. After finishing, take out the cotton ball and wipe the applied area with a 75% alcohol cotton swab (formula: 10g potassium dichromate, 75ml concentrated acid, add water to 100ml). 3. For patients with cervical hypertrophy, deep and extensive erosion involving the cervical canal, and/or suspected malignant changes, cervical cone resection can be performed. Remove the tissue and send it for pathological examination. This method leaves a smaller scar and the cervix can remain in its original shape after surgery. |
