Why does the areola change after pregnancy? Is this normal?

A woman's body will undergo great changes during pregnancy. Some pregnant women will develop small bumps on their areola. In fact, this symptom is normal. As long as you have a healthy diet and there is no pain or itching, there is no problem. Because the breasts during pregnancy will become extremely sensitive, and the nipples and areola will also enlarge and darken. The longer the pregnancy lasts, the more obvious the symptoms will become.

A woman's body undergoes major changes during pregnancy. For example :

The body will become very sensitive and you won’t be able to eat many things. And the physical changes are obvious. Sometimes our breasts swell and small bumps appear on the areola. Many pregnant women are still worried when they see small bumps on their areola. Because nowadays the early symptoms of any tumor or cancer are small bumps on the skin, which are actually not that serious.

Nowadays, even women who are not pregnant will have small bumps on their areola, but this phenomenon is rare. However, it happens more frequently in pregnant women. So why do small bumps grow on the areola during pregnancy?

Experts have said that women's hormones will increase during pregnancy, so small bumps on the areola may be caused by estrogen, so it is a normal phenomenon. Moreover, these small bumps can protect women's breasts. They can also secrete some lubricating fluid to nourish women's breasts and keep nipples soft. After the baby is born, breastfeeding will be more comfortable.

However, it cannot be ruled out that it is a sign of female gynecological disease. If the small bumps around the areola are dark in color, we should pay attention and go to the hospital for examination if possible.

Because sometimes these small bumps on the areola are the early symptoms of a tumor. They may be breast lipomas. This tumor is generally benign and grows in the fat tissue structure, and then it is more manifested on the surface of the breast. This symptom often occurs in obese people. Therefore, if a pregnant woman is overweight, she must go to the hospital for a check-up and eat a balanced diet when necessary. Even during pregnancy, she can eat more nutritious food, but she must also remember to exercise to avoid excessive obesity.
