What is adenoma? Causes of adenoma

Many people do not have this problem with adenoma. In fact, the incidence of this disease is still relatively high. It is a comprehensive disease. The manifestations of each patient are completely different, but most of the patients with this disease are still concentrated in female patients. It is a disease that only middle-aged women suffer from. The most common symptoms are thyroid-related symptoms. This symptom will last for a long time. Only long-term treatment can alleviate this situation to a certain extent. However, if the patient has any abnormal reactions during the treatment, he must go to the hospital for further examination in time.

1. Thyroid adenoma

Most patients are women, usually under 40 years old, and generally have a single nodule in the thyroid gland. The disease progresses slowly, usually over months to years or even longer, and the patient is found to have a neck mass due to slight discomfort or without any symptoms. Most of them are single, round or oval, with a smooth surface, clear boundaries, firm texture, no adhesion to surrounding tissues, no tenderness, and can move up and down with swallowing. In a small number of patients, the tumor will suddenly increase in size due to intratumoral bleeding, accompanied by swelling and pain; some tumors will gradually be absorbed and shrink; some may undergo cystic changes.

2. Breast fibroadenoma

(1) Most breast lumps are discovered accidentally. Two-thirds of the lumps are between 1 and 3 cm in size, and some are larger than 10 cm. The lesions are mostly located on the upper outside of the breast, mostly solitary, a few are multiple, round or oval in shape, with clear boundaries, smooth surface, toughness, good mobility, and no adhesion to the epidermis and pectoral muscles.

(2) Most cases of pain are painless lumps, and only 14% have mild pain, which is paroxysmal, occasional, or triggered by menstruation.

(3) There is clear discharge from the nipple, but it is rare, accounting for about 0.75%.

(4) Lymph nodes: Axillary lymph nodes are not enlarged.

Thyroid lobectomy is a relatively radical surgical procedure. If the frozen section during surgery confirms differentiated thyroid cancer, regular follow-up is required as long as no enlarged lymph nodes are found in the neck. Adenomas that are clinically considered to be single but are actually multiple can also be completely removed, avoiding the need for further surgery.
