What are the methods to remove cesarean section scars?

There are actually many reasons for choosing a cesarean section. Some friends do not want to experience the pain of childbirth, while some friends choose a cesarean section because natural birth is inconvenient. After a caesarean section, there will be an obvious scar on the body. The visibility of the scar will change depending on the care provided by the mother. Some friends feel that such scars have a great impact on themselves, and always think of ways to eliminate them. It is possible to eliminate cesarean section scars, but everyone should choose a reasonable method, such as surgical scar removal, corticosteroid injection, pressure therapy, etc., which are all better scar removal methods. Try not to use some folk remedies to avoid inflammation of the wound.

About two to three weeks after the surgical incision has healed, the scar begins to grow, and the area becomes red, purple, hardened, and protrudes from the skin surface. It lasts for about three months to half a year, during which the proliferation of fibrous tissue gradually stops, the scar gradually becomes flatter and softer, and the color turns dark brown. At this time, the cesarean section scar will become painful and itchy. Especially when sweating profusely or when the weather changes, the itching is often so severe that one has to scratch until bleeding. Therefore, it is said among scar patients that pain is easy to bear, but itching is unbearable.

Scar removal surgery

Principle: Use surgery to reduce the width of scars or change the direction of scars toward skin texture.

Surgery can remove hypertrophic scars and keloids on the belly, as well as scars near joints that impede movement. It is often combined with steroid injections and follow-up with a silicone patch. When used alone, it may cause abnormal scar regeneration.

Corticosteroid injections

Principle: By controlling the abnormal proliferation of capillary endothelial cells in hemangiomas and forming the process of immature new blood vessels, the treatment of proliferative hemangiomas can be achieved. Corticosteroid injections are the first-line treatment for hypertrophic scars and keloids. Intralesional injections every 4-6 weeks are continued for several months or until the scars flatten. Pain during injection often affects patient compliance and may require local anesthesia.

Compression therapy

Principle: It mainly uses pressure to narrow the blood vessel lumen in the scar, reduce blood flow, cause the scar tissue to lack nutrition, and significantly inhibit the proliferation of scar tissue, thus achieving the purpose of scar treatment. This is the standard treatment for hypertrophic burn scars, and although the mechanism of action is unclear and rigorous experimental evidence is lacking, compression garments are often used in hospitals. This special bandage-like garment needs to be used continuously for up to 12 months.
