What are the symptoms of low estrogen levels in women?

As we all know, the estrogen level in women is much higher than that in men, but the estrogen level in some women is significantly low. There are many reasons for this result, such as dysfunction of the hypothalamus or pituitary gland, cirrhosis of the liver, or premature ovarian failure in women, all of which can lead to low estrogen levels and then the following symptoms will appear.

One of the symptoms of low estrogen: hot flashes

Without any inducement, the feeling of heat spreads rapidly from the chest to the face and upper limbs, sometimes accompanied by palpitations and sweating. Some patients mainly suffer from nocturnal hot flashes, often waking up in the middle of the night, sweating all over. Hot flashes and night sweats are caused by estrogen deficiency, which leads to anarchic vasoconstriction and relaxation.

Symptom 2 of low estrogen: back pain

The pain spreads to both sides along the spine. It is relieved when lying on your back or sitting, and is aggravated when standing upright or stretching back or standing or sitting for a long time. The pain is mild during the day and worsens at night and when waking up in the early morning. It is aggravated by bending over, muscle movement, coughing, or straining during bowel movements.

Symptom 3 of low estrogen: Dull skin

In the days before and during menstruation, the skin becomes dry, dull, and lacks radiance, and fine wrinkles become more obvious. During this period, the body has the lowest amount of estrogen.

Symptoms of low estrogen 4: Abnormal mental and neurological symptoms

When estrogen is low, there will be symptoms such as anxiety, depression, irritability, anger, crying, fatigue, and a feeling of ants crawling on the skin. It feels very uncomfortable as if there are groups of ants crawling on the skin and in the hair. However, no abnormalities were found after dermatological examination.

Symptom 5 of low estrogen: osteoporosis

During menopause, women's blood estrogen levels drop significantly, and they are most likely to develop osteoporosis. Bones will become lighter, softer, more brittle and more prone to fractures; height will decrease, back pain will occur and hunchbacks will appear.

Symptom 6 of low estrogen: palpitations

Menopausal women say that this feeling is just like a guilty thief, which is very uncomfortable. When there is a sudden noise outside, sometimes the noise is not loud, but you will feel a panic, your heart will beat wildly, and it will take a long time for you to calm down. Repeated electrocardiograms, 24-hour electrocardiograms, and even treadmill exercise tests often show normal results, and at best they may manifest as sinus tachycardia during an attack.

Symptom 7 of low estrogen: sexual distress

Low libido, vaginal dryness, vulvar itching, pain during intercourse, or mood swings, major personality changes, easy to lose temper, and always in an irritable state.

Generally speaking, after the age of 35, about 70% of women have low estrogen levels. Low estrogen levels in women can cause some unspeakable troubles in the early stages, and its long-term impact on women’s quality of life cannot be underestimated. In fact, diseases caused by estrogen deficiency have spread to internal medicine, orthopedics, psychiatry, ophthalmology, dentistry and surgery. Since these diseases or symptoms often occur several years or even more than ten years after menopause, people rarely associate these diseases with estrogen deficiency.
