How to detect ovarian cancer

How to detect ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer is a common malignant tumor, and its incidence rate is second only to cervical cancer in recent years. Ovarian cancer poses a great threat to women's lives. Many women are already in the late stage when the disease is discovered. This is because the symptoms of ovarian cancer in the early stages are not obvious and it also increases the difficulty of treatment. Ovarian cancer can be diagnosed through B-ultrasound, X-ray examination, CT, etc. Female friends should have regular gynecological examinations.

Screening for ovarian cancer:

Ultrasound examination

It can determine the size, shape, cysticity, location and relationship with surrounding organs of the tumor and identify giant ovarian cysts.

X-ray examination

If necessary, intestinal angiography can be used to understand the relationship between the tumor and the intestine and rule out gastrointestinal tumors.

CT and MRI

It can help to understand the extent of tumor invasion into the abdominal and pelvic cavity.

Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer:

(1) Pain Ovarian malignant tumors may cause a considerable degree of persistent pain and distension due to changes within the tumor, such as bleeding, necrosis, and rapid growth. During examination, local tenderness was found.

(2) Irregular menstruation: Occasionally irregular uterine bleeding and postmenopausal bleeding.

(3) In the late stage of emaciation, there is progressive emaciation.

Causes of ovarian cancer:

(I) Environmental factors: The incidence of ovarian cancer is high in women in industrially developed countries and the upper class, which may be related to high cholesterol in the diet. In addition, ionizing radiation, asbestos and talcum powder can affect oocytes and increase the chance of developing ovarian cancer. Smoking and deficiency of vitamins A, C and E may also be related to the onset of the disease.

(ii) Endocrine factors: Ovarian cancer mostly occurs in nulliparous or infertile women. Pregnancy seems to have an antagonistic effect on ovarian cancer. It is believed that repeated damage to the ovarian epithelium caused by daily ovulation is related to the occurrence of ovarian cancer. In addition, breast cancer and endometrial cancer are often complicated by ovarian cancer, and all three diseases are dependent on this hormone.

(III) Genetic and family factors: About 20-25% of ovarian cancer patients have cancer in their immediate family members.
