Will second degree cervical erosion affect pregnancy?

Will second degree cervical erosion affect pregnancy?

Cervical erosion is a common disease in gynecology. Almost every woman of childbearing age has this disease. This is because the uterus is a relatively weak organ and is easily infected. Although the incidence of cervical erosion is relatively widespread, the harm is still relatively large. So will the second degree of cervical erosion affect pregnancy?

Cervical erosion is also known as cervical columnar epithelium ectopia. It is a condition in which the cervical vaginal part at the external os of the cervix is covered by a complete single layer of columnar epithelium of the cervical canal. Because the columnar epithelium is thin, the stroma underneath is red and appears as a fine granular red area, which may be smooth or uneven. It is clinically called cervical erosion, but it is not true erosion. It just refers to epithelial shedding and ulcers. The highest incidence rate among women aged 20 to 40 years old decreases with age.

symptom

Symptoms include menstrual disorders, vulvar itching, bleeding during sexual intercourse, increased leucorrhea, stickiness, odor, and often purulent, and may be accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region and bladder irritation. Patients with more severe erosions may have varying degrees of purulent and bloody secretions, typically with fresh bloody secretions after sexual intercourse.

There are three main types of symptoms:

1. Mild erosion: When the erosion area is less than 1/3 of the entire cervical area, it is mild cervical erosion. The only symptoms are increased vaginal discharge and yellowing of the discharge. Depending on the pathogen, the quality, quantity and color of the discharge may change.

2. Moderate erosion: Moderate cervical erosion occurs when the erosion area occupies between 1/3 and 2/3 of the cervical area. Symptoms include increased vaginal discharge, yellow color, stickiness and odor, and irritation to the vulva causing itching.

3. Severe erosion: Severe cervical erosion occurs when the erosion area accounts for more than 2/3 of the entire cervical area. There is an increase in vaginal discharge, which is yellow in color, sticky in texture and has a foul odor. Inflammatory vaginal discharge can cause long-term irritation to the vulva and itching. Others may include urinary tract symptoms. Once the inflammation of cervical erosion spreads to the bladder triangle or around the bladder, frequent urination and difficulty urinating will occur.

complication

Infertility: Cervical erosion can cause infertility, especially moderate and severe cervical erosion. Cervical secretions will increase significantly, become thick, and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will have an adverse effect on sperm motility, hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, and affect conception. Cervical erosion is also a cause of miscarriage. Cervical erosion can cause tissue changes and reduced elasticity, which can lead to an unsmooth delivery process. Severe cervicitis can also affect sexual life.

Treatment

Surgical method: Surgical treatment is suitable for patients with more severe cervical erosion. Lip knife is a commonly used surgical treatment method today.

Drug treatment: Azithromycin, metronidazole tablets, Kangfuyan capsules, and compound hibiscus effervescent tablets can be taken. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment, and follow-up examination should be conducted after one month.

Cervical erosion can reduce the pregnancy rate, and severe cervical erosion may cause infertility. The occurrence of each disease is inseparable from one's usual bad living habits. Therefore, in order to prevent the occurrence of cervical erosion, it is necessary to keep the vulva clean, pay attention to hygiene during sexual life, take contraceptive measures, and avoid unnecessary abortions. Eat a light diet and avoid irritating foods.
