Can I have a natural birth with symphysis pubis separation?

Generally speaking, it is not recommended for pregnant women with symphysis pubis separation to give birth naturally, because some patients with symphysis pubis separation are not suitable for the changes in the pelvis during delivery, which is not conducive to delivery, so it is best to have a caesarean section.

1. Can a vaginal birth be achieved with pubic separation?

It is a normal physiological need for pregnant women to experience pubic separation. If the pregnant woman is in good health, she can fully adapt to these changes and no accidents will occur. If the pregnant woman herself suffers from some arthritis or osteomalacia, it will cause pelvic force imbalance during the delivery process, thereby causing symptoms of pubic separation. If a pregnant woman has pubic separation, in addition to absolute bed rest, she also needs to do a circular bandage. To ensure the safety of mother and baby, it is best to have a cesarean section.

2. Conditions for normal delivery

1. The fetal position is appropriate.

For a natural birth, the fetal position must be correct. If there are other abnormal fetal positions such as transverse position, breech position, etc., it is best not to choose a natural birth. It is not good for both adults and children and the risks are relatively high. Only when the fetus is in the correct position can you choose natural delivery.

2. There is no umbilical cord around the neck or around the neck for a period of time.

If you want a natural birth, you also need to consider whether the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck. Because during birth, if the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck, it will easily strangle the baby's neck if it is not long enough, which will cause suffocation. If it is only wrapped around the neck once, there is still a chance of a natural birth. If it is wrapped around the neck two times or more, it is better to choose a caesarean section for the baby's safety.

3. The amount of amniotic fluid is normal.

When giving birth, the amniotic fluid will break, and it will take some time for the baby to be born. If there is too little amniotic fluid, the baby will lack lubrication, which will prolong the delivery process and may cause difficulty breathing, which is unsafe for the baby. Therefore, if you want to give birth naturally, you also need to check whether the amount of amniotic fluid is normal.
