Does scanty menstruation affect ovulation? Gynecologists answer this

Some women find that their menstrual flow is very small, so they worry that this will affect normal ovulation. According to gynecological experts, there is no direct relationship between menstrual flow and ovulation, but if the menstrual flow is small, you must find a way to regulate it in time.

1. Will low menstrual flow affect ovulation?

Usually, the amount of menstrual flow has little to do with ovulation, but is related to the endometrium. If it is too thin, it is not easy to implant, so it has a certain impact on conception. Menstruation refers to bleeding caused by the lack of shedding of the endometrium after ovulation. It is a spontaneous, cyclical bleeding. Doctors believe that normal menstrual bleeding should be 20 to 60 ml. Using sanitary napkins (10 in a pack) as an apt analogy, if you cannot finish a pack every time you have your period, your menstrual flow is too little.

Generally the condition is due to low estrogen levels or an underdeveloped uterus. Estrogen stimulates the thickening of the endometrium in preparation for conception. If conception does not occur, the proliferating endometrium will shed and bleed to form menstruation. Low estrogen levels in the body can cause the endometrium to not grow thick enough, and less bleeding during menstruation will affect conception in the future. Although scanty menstruation does not seem to be harmful to the human body, it will have certain effects if not treated for a long time, so it should be treated actively.

If the amount of menstrual blood continues to be too small after the menstrual cycle stabilizes, and it is not caused by nutritional deficiencies, and at the same time, it is found that the body development is not ideal, such as the breasts and buttocks are not obviously raised, you should be alert and go to the hospital as soon as possible to check the estrogen level. If you find that your estrogen level is low, you need to find out the reason. Most of the time, it is caused by diseases of the endocrine system. Finding out the cause and treating it, and supplementing estrogen under the guidance of a doctor, can change the menstrual condition.

2. The normal menstrual volume is 30-50ML, and the general menstrual period is 2-8 days. If the menstrual volume is significantly less than before, it is best to do six electrochemiluminescence hormone tests on the 3rd to 5th day of menstruation and do B-ultrasound examination 3-5 days after the end of menstruation to clarify the endocrine and ovarian function. If there is a history of miscarriage, electronic hysteroscopy is required to determine whether there is adhesion in the uterine cavity, etc., to make a clear diagnosis and symptomatic treatment.

3. What to do if your menstrual flow is light

1. Do not eat raw or cold food one week before your period (this is something you must pay attention to). For people with normal menstruation, there is nothing wrong with eating raw or cold food before or during menstruation, but for people with irregular menstruation, you must pay attention to this.

2. Drink a cup of boiled water with brown sugar every day when your period comes.

3. It is best not to overwork yourself during menstruation.

4. A person’s mood and stress will affect the normality of menstruation, so try not to let yourself be too depressed.

5. It is best not to drink cold water during menstruation. Generally speaking, you can drink cold water during menstruation, but for people with irregular menstruation, it is best not to drink cold water.

6. During menstruation, you should keep warm, avoid cold, cool, raw, and cold stimulation to prevent the invasion of cold evil; pay attention to rest, reduce fatigue, strengthen nutrition, and enhance physical fitness; you should try to control drastic emotional fluctuations, avoid strong mental stimulation, and keep a happy mood; you should avoid excessive sexual intercourse at ordinary times, and sexual life is absolutely prohibited during menstruation.
