Caesarean section scar adhesion is actually like this

During the recovery phase, women who have undergone cesarean sections always hear doctors tell them to move more to avoid scar adhesion. But what exactly is cesarean section scar adhesion? Most female friends don’t know much about this. In fact, cesarean section scar adhesion refers to the adhesion between the surgical incision and the abdominal wall and between the bladder and the abdominal wall.

1. What is postoperative scar adhesion?

Adhesions may occur during any surgery, and adhesions caused by cesarean section are mainly concentrated in two places: between the surgical incision and the abdominal wall, and between the bladder and the abdominal wall. "In severe cases, it can even affect the intestines and cause intestinal adhesions," experts pointed out that under imaging examinations such as B-ultrasound and CT, adhesion tissue is no different from other body tissues. Apart from opening the abdomen and identifying it with the naked eye, there is no other way to predict the adhesion situation in the mother's abdomen in advance.

2. Which group of people are prone to adhesion?

Older pregnant women (slow healing), patients with scar constitution, patients with chronic pelvic inflammation and endometriosis, patients who have undergone ovarian and fallopian tube surgery, myomectomy and adhesion lysis.

Natural birth is the preferred way for women to give birth. If a cesarean section is necessary and they wish to have a second child, they should take preventive measures and pay more attention to it during the first cesarean section.

Adhesion prevention, in addition to relying on the clinician's superb and meticulous surgical techniques, can also be achieved through auxiliary measures to minimize the risk of adhesion. The "Consensus on the Prevention of Adhesions in Gynecological Surgeries" issued by the Gynecological Laparoscopy Society in 2012 pointed out that high-risk groups should be informed of the risks of adhesions before surgery, and it is recommended to use auxiliary anti-adhesion barriers during surgery.
