There are many reasons for vaginitis in women, one of which is Trichomonas infection, which is called Trichomonas vaginitis. Trichomonas vaginitis has many symptoms, such as burning sensation in the genitals. Some patients also have symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. 1. Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginitis Most cases are asymptomatic. Women may feel uncomfortable for a week or several months, and then improve significantly due to menstruation or pregnancy. The vaginal mucosa is inflamed, bright red, covered with patchy pseudomembranes, often accompanied by foamy secretions, and they feel itching to varying degrees, and a few have a burning sensation. Leucorrhea increases and turns yellow-green. Frequent urination, urgency, pain, hematuria, abdominal pain, diarrhea, mucous stools, alveolar pus discharge, and tooth decay may occasionally occur. It often causes urethritis and can lead to cystitis and Bartholin's glanditis. 2. Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginitis Typical symptoms: mainly an increase in thin, foamy leucorrhea and vulvar itching, which may be accompanied by a burning sensation, pain and dyspareunia. If accompanied by a urethral infection, there will be frequent urination, urgency, pain or hematuria. About 9-56% of patients may have no symptoms. 3. Diagnostic criteria: Based on the medical history, vulvar itching and excessive foamy vaginal discharge, this disease can be considered. 1. Vaginal secretions must be examined under a microscope, and the diagnosis can be confirmed if Trichomonas is seen. The easiest way to check for Trichomonas is the hanging drop method: add a drop of warm saline on a glass slide, take a small amount of vaginal secretions from the posterior fornix, mix it with the saline on the glass slide, and immediately look for Trichomonas under a low-power microscope. If Trichomonas is present, it can be seen moving in a wave-like manner, and the surrounding white blood cells can also be seen being moved. For symptomatic patients, the positive rate of the hanging drop method can reach 80-90%. 2. For suspected patients, if Trichomonas cannot be found through multiple hanging drop methods, the patient can be sent for culture, the accuracy of which can reach about 98%. 4. Inspection 1. Examination of secretions Vaginal secretions, prostatic fluid, and urine are examined for Trichomonas vaginalis by smear microscopy or culture. Vaginal discharge is often yellow and purulent. 2. Stool examination Take stool or bile to check for human Trichomonas. 3. Alveolar pus examination Take alveolar pus to check for oral Trichomonas. |
