What should pregnant women do if they have severe anal prolapse?

Rectal prolapse in pregnant women should be taken seriously. Due to the special circumstances of pregnancy, the choice of drugs and treatments cannot be blind. Therefore, it is recommended to adopt conservative treatment methods, mainly based on a scientific diet, and eat more vegetables and fruits rich in crude fiber.

1. Rectal prolapse refers to a disease in which the mucosal layer of the anal canal and rectum and the entire rectal wall fall off , shift to the distal end, and protrude out of the anus. Traditional Chinese medicine calls it anal prolapse or rectal prolapse. Women are prone to rectal prolapse during pregnancy, especially in the late stages of pregnancy. This is because during pregnancy, the blood supply to the pelvis increases. After the fetus develops, the growing uterus will compress the veins, causing blood return to be obstructed. In addition, the relaxation of pelvic tissue during pregnancy can cause and aggravate rectal prolapse in pregnant women. After delivery, these factors will naturally disappear gradually, and the symptoms of rectal prolapse in pregnant women will improve or even disappear.

2. If the prolapsed anal canal is subjected to special treatments such as ligation, freezing, laser, or surgical removal during pregnancy, there will be certain risks. Therefore, as long as the bleeding is not heavy or frequent, it is better to wait until after delivery before undergoing thorough treatment. If the anal canal prolapses and cannot be pushed back into the anus, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.

3. Conservative treatment is generally used for this disease during pregnancy . That is, diet therapy is mainly used in daily life, and eat more vegetables and fruits rich in crude fiber. For people with habitual constipation, they can regularly eat some foods that moisturize the intestines and promote bowel movements. In this way, you can keep your bowel movements smooth. In addition, when going to the toilet, you should use a sitting position, and the defecation time should not be too long.

4. If the anal canal prolapses during defecation , it should be dealt with in time: After defecation, wash the anus first, then lie on the bed, raise the buttocks, put some cooking oil on the soft toilet paper, hold the oil paper in your hand, gently push the anal canal into the anus, then use your fingers to gently push the hemorrhoids deeper, and then insert a less irritating anal plug. However, do not get up and move around immediately. It is best to do pelvic floor exercises for 5-10 minutes. If hemorrhoids prolapse when walking or coughing, then after treating them as described above, you should also apply multiple layers of gauze to press down the anus and secure it with a T-belt.
