Symptoms of mild cervicitis: early treatment is important

Cervicitis can be acute or chronic. Mild cervicitis can cause increased vaginal discharge and frequent urination and urgency, and requires prompt treatment. Severe cervicitis can lead to cervical erosion and affect female fertility, so regular gynecological examinations are recommended.

1. What are the symptoms of mild cervicitis?

From relevant information, we can learn that cervicitis is usually a common disease among women of childbearing age, and there are two types: acute and chronic. Experts say that acute cervicitis often coexists with acute endometritis or acute vaginitis, but chronic cervicitis is more common. The main manifestation is increased leucorrhea, which is thick mucus or purulent mucus, sometimes accompanied by or mixed with blood. Long-term chronic mechanical stimulation is the main cause of cervicitis.

From the symptoms of cervicitis, we know that the main symptom of mild cervicitis is increased leucorrhea. In acute cervicitis, the leucorrhea is purulent, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, or bladder irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. In chronic cervicitis, the leucorrhea is milky white and mucous, or light yellow and purulent; in severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps, the leucorrhea may be bloody or there may be bleeding after intercourse. In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the lumbar region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea. In addition, sticky and purulent leucorrhea is not conducive to the passage of sperm and can also cause infertility.

2. Treatment of cervicitis

In principle, antibiotics are selected according to the pathogen, and treatment can be given before the pathogen detection results are obtained. Azithromycin 18 mg can be taken as a single dose; or doxycycline 100 mg, twice a day, for 7 consecutive days. For those who have acquired pathogens, antibiotics are selected against the pathogens.

1. For simple acute gonorrheal Neisseria cervicitis, a single large-dose administration is recommended. The third-generation cephalosporins are commonly used, such as ceftriaxone sodium 250 mg single intramuscular injection; or cefixime 400 mg single oral administration; aminoglycoside spectinomycin 4g, single intramuscular injection.

2. For cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, the main treatment drugs include tetracyclines, such as doxycycline 100 mg, taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days; erythromycins, mainly azithromycin 1 g, taken once, or erythromycin 500 mg, taken 4 times a day for 7 consecutive days; quinolones, mainly ofloxacin 300 mg, taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days, and levofloxacin 500 mg, taken once a day for 7 consecutive days.

3. If Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection is often accompanied by chlamydia infection, treatment should be combined with drugs for treating Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis.

After understanding the above symptoms of cervicitis, I believe that all female friends will have a certain understanding of the symptoms of mild cervicitis. Cervicitis can be prevented mainly in daily life. Paying attention to personal hygiene habits and clean and hygienic life of couples can effectively prevent the occurrence of the disease. If a female friend suffers from cervicitis, it is recommended that the couple undergo examination and treatment at the same time.
