Prevention of breast cancer may target fat cells rather than cancer cells, according to new research from the University of North Carolina Comprehensive Cancer Center. Their preliminary research shows that when cancer cells are transplanted into obese tissue, they grow faster. They believe the research could help explain the link between obesity and cancer. The researchers also provided evidence that the fatty tissue surrounding cancer cells may contribute to the development of cancer. This is the tumor "microenvironment" that is receiving more and more attention. The so-called microenvironment refers to the cells surrounding the tumor and the chemicals produced by the cells. Breast cancer is embedded in fatty tissue because breasts are primarily made up of fatty tissue. When a person becomes fat, their fat tissue will change, and the microenvironment that produces cancer will also change accordingly. The researchers transplanted breast cancer cells from a "lean" microenvironment into an "obese" environment to observe how the tumor cells grow in these different contexts. As a result, tumors grown in the "obese" environment were significantly larger than those grown in the "lean" environment, as well as the model environment in which weight loss was successful. Their findings in the weight loss model suggest that the obese environment can be partially or completely reversed by weight loss because weight loss corrects the changes in the microenvironment that are helping cancer grow, again showing a relationship between obesity and cancer. Five signs of breast cancer invasion 1. Pain In the early stages of the disease, there is generally no pain. Only a few patients will experience varying degrees of pain, such as dull pain, pulling pain, tingling or dull pain. 2. The appearance of lumps The appearance of a painless mass is the first symptom of many breast cancer patients. Its surface is mostly irregular and uneven, with unclear boundaries, and is hard and tough, with some parts being as hard as stone. 3. Changes in the shape of the breasts A normal breast has a relatively complete arc-shaped outline. When suffering from breast cancer, this outline will be defective or change in shape. 4. Abnormalities may also occur when the patient's skin is damaged. Generally, an orange peel appearance often occurs. 5. Nipple discharge As the breast cancer disease progresses, a small number of patients will experience nipple discharge, which is mostly colorless, milky white, red, etc. |
