Estrogen changes before and after menstruation

Estrogen changes before and after menstruation

Menstruation is a physiological phenomenon of female friends. Menstruation is controlled by a lot of hormones in the human body, among which estrogen is a key hormone that controls menstruation. The high or low level of estrogen during menstruation determines whether a woman's menstruation is normal. So, what is the level of estrogen during menstruation? How does estrogen change before and after menstruation? Let's take a look at it together, is estrogen high or low before menstruation?

Is premenstrual estrogen high or low?

Changes in estrogen levels during women's menstrual period:

1 After women reach puberty, under the control of growth hormone released by the hypothalamus-pituitary gonadotropin, the anterior pituitary secretes stimulating hormone (FSH) and a small amount of luteinizing hormone (LH), which promote the development of the uterus and ovaries and begin to secrete estrogen. Under the action of estrogen, the periosteum of the uterus undergoes proliferative changes.

2. As the egg matures, the secretion of estrogen also gradually increases. When it reaches a certain concentration, it promotes the anterior pituitary gland to increase the secretion of gonadotropin through the positive feedback effect on the hypothalamus-pituitary gland, and increases LH secretion more significantly, resulting in a peak in progesterone release, which leads to the perfect egg ovulation period.

3. Under the action of progesterone, the egg after ovulation produces progesterone and metabolizes estrogen and estrogens. During this period, the uterine wall, mainly under the action of estrogen, accelerates growth and functional division, and changes into the metabolic endometrium.

4. Because progesterone secretes a large amount of estrogen and estradiol, the concentrations of these two hormones in the blood increase, which inhibit the hypothalamus and pituitary gland through negative feedback effects, causing the pituitary gland to secrete less egg stimulation and progesterone. As progesterone shrinks, estrogen and estradiol also decrease rapidly. The uterine wall suddenly loses the support of these two estrogens, collapses and bleeds, the endometrium falls off and menstruation occurs.

Generally speaking, estrogen is essential during menstruation. The level of estrogen changes with the menstrual period. After menstruation, estrogen reaches its maximum level. When the menstrual period is over, estrogen levels drop to a minimum.

What are the symptoms of high estrogen?

Excessive estrogen levels can easily lead to obesity, irregular menstruation, ovulation disorders, and in severe cases, infertility and uterine cancer.

1. Obesity: Obese people have too much body fat, which will increase the storage of estrogen, or cause a large amount of androgen to be converted into estrogen, which will cause the body's estrogen level to rise and the effect time to be shortened.

2. Menstrual disorders: Estrogen participates in the production of menstrual cycles. During the follicular phase, estrogen levels rise, promoting the thickening of the endometrium. If the estrogen level is too high before menarche, it will affect the normal shedding of the uterine wall and menstruation will not occur during the menarche.

3. Breast hyperplasia and breast cancer: Estrogen can stimulate breast hyperplasia, and excessive levels can easily cause breast cancer. Most breast diseases are caused by excessive estrogen levels and endocrine disorders.

4. Uterine fibroids: Uterine fibroids are a type of estrogen-dependent tumor and are related to estrogen levels. Therefore, uterine fibroids are more likely to occur in growing women with abundant ovaries.

5. Uterine cancer: Estrogen and oestrogen work together on the uterine wall, causing the squamous epithelial cells of the endometrium to proliferate and shed regularly, leading to menstruation. If the relative increase in estrogen, the uterine wall will proliferate abnormally, which can easily lead to lesions.

6. Infertility: Estrogen can promote uterine development. If the estrogen content is too high, it will affect the normal development of the egg and may cause ovulation disorders or infertility.
