What to do if you have postpartum urinary incontinence

What to do if you have postpartum urinary incontinence

Pregnant women are prone to urinary incontinence after delivery, such as urine leakage, which often causes them great embarrassment. In fact, this is also a normal physiological phenomenon. It is mainly because the urinary sphincter becomes weak due to pressure. So what can we do?

1. Frequent urination

Keep your bladder as empty as possible, and when you urinate, give your bladder three additional compressions to allow it to empty completely.

2. Open your mouth when you cough or sneeze

This will reduce the chance of compressing the diaphragm.

3. Practice anal contraction exercises

When you urinate, empty the urine completely and contract the muscles several times as if you are trying to stop peeing.

4. Use sanitary pads

When you go out, be sure to carry some sanitary pads with you to avoid embarrassing situations.

5. Perform pelvic floor muscle exercises

This is a great way to reduce urine leakage and after a few weeks you should start to see an improvement in your bladder control.
