How to check for cervical relaxation? Keep these measures in mind!

Some women may have undergone surgery such as cervical dilation or curettage, which may cause cervical relaxation. Whether the cervix is in a relaxed state requires detailed examination, and there are special medical indicators to determine it.

1. Have a history of cervical surgery such as cervical dilation and curettage, or a history of emergency delivery or forceps delivery.

2. It is easier to conceive, but also more prone to miscarriage or premature birth, and most women have a history of more than two spontaneous abortions in mid-pregnancy. The characteristics of miscarriage are that there is no obvious paroxysmal abdominal pain before miscarriage, sudden rupture of the fetal membrane, and rapid delivery of the fetus, which is mostly fresh and has no congenital developmental abnormalities.

3. During the non-pregnancy period, if the cervix is shorter than 1.5 cm or a size 8 cervical dilator can easily pass through the internal os of the uterus without resistance or pain. During pregnancy, the cervical canal is short and the internal and external openings of the uterus are relaxed, allowing fingers to pass through.

4. Hysteroiodized oil angiography shows that the cervical canal is pathologically dilated with a diameter greater than 6 mm; B-ultrasound examination shows that the internal os of the uterus is wide. If it is larger than 19 mm and there is a history of miscarriage, the diagnosis will be confirmed.

5. Under normal circumstances, you need to wait 3-7 days after the menstrual period to do an ultrasound examination to check the function of the cervix. Use dilator rods from large to small to pass through the cervix first to see which size of rod the cervix can pass through first. If the cervix is loose, you can use the buried hoop method for testing.

6. Cervical relaxation cannot be detected by B-ultrasound. The degree of cervical relaxation can be checked through gynecological examination, and the tightness of the cervical opening can be felt by using a probe. Generally, two medical abortions will not cause excessive relaxation of the cervical opening. The degree of cervical relaxation varies greatly from person to person. Some people still have a tight cervical opening even after giving birth, and some people have a loose cervical opening compared to normal people even if they have never been pregnant. Thank you for your question.
