Take a bath after childbirth, these precautions should be kept in mind

The issue that women are most concerned about after giving birth is washing their hair and taking a bath, especially in the summer. Many women in the confinement period are always worried about becoming unkempt, but do you know? In fact, women can also pay attention to their posture and body changes during the confinement period, but the issues they need to pay attention to are more comprehensive than usual maintenance. Let’s take a detailed look at the precautions for bathing after childbirth and how long after childbirth you can bathe.

Precautions for bathing after childbirth

After giving birth, pregnant mothers will definitely take a bath during the confinement period. Although modern people know that postpartum women taking a bath is not as problematic as traditional ones, the following issues still cannot be ignored:

1. Avoid taking a bath too early. Three days after natural delivery, the new mother's physical strength has recovered and she can take a bath, usually once every 2-3 days. If the new mother's delivery process is not smooth, or there is heavy bleeding, or her physical condition is poor, it is not advisable to start bathing too early. She can use warm water sponge bath. The stitches for a caesarean section are usually removed 5 days later, and you can take a sponge bath after the stitches are removed, but you can only take a bath after 10 days.

2. Avoid taking a bath in a tub. After giving birth for the first time, you must take a shower instead of a tub bath, otherwise it will cause sewage to flow into the vagina, which may infect the endometrium that has not been fully repaired, causing pelvic inflammatory disease and endometritis.

3. Avoid using too hot water. The process of childbirth is very physically demanding and the body is weak after childbirth. If the bath water temperature is too high, it will cause the new mother to become physically exhausted.

4. Avoid using talcum powder. After taking a shower, the skin pores open and the skin will sweat. If you use talcum powder, it will stick to the sweat on the skin, reducing the cleaning and drying effects.

How long after giving birth can I take a shower?

In the past, living conditions were poor and mothers could not be provided with good bathrooms and heating facilities. During childbirth, in order to ensure the smooth delivery of the fetal head, the pelvic joints are opened under the action of hormones, and the joints of the body become looser. Therefore, the mother is very weak during the confinement period. It is very easy to catch a cold if she is not careful, and it is difficult for her to recover due to her weak body. However, today's living conditions are completely different from the past, and they can provide mothers with very good bathing environments and facilities, so that they are no longer prone to catching colds. Moreover, not taking a bath is not conducive to the recovery of the mother. We know that after childbirth, a lot of sweat will be produced, which will pollute the skin.

The lochia produced in the lower body and the overflowing milk will also make the skin very dirty; the mixture of multiple liquids will emit a very unpleasant odor, making the mother feel uncomfortable and in a bad mental state; the large number of bacteria accumulated on the skin and mucous membranes will take advantage of the situation and invade, causing folliculitis, endometritis, mastitis, etc., and even sepsis.

Therefore, timely cleaning of the body after delivery has the effect of activating blood circulation and promoting qi circulation, which can help the mother relieve labor fatigue and maintain a comfortable mood; it can also promote blood circulation in the perineal wound and accelerate healing; keep the skin clean and avoid infection of the skin and perineal wound; deepen the mother's sleep, increase appetite, and improve complexion. Therefore, taking a bath in time during the confinement period is very beneficial to the health of the mother. If there is no wound on the perineum, you can start bathing as soon as you recover from fatigue.
