What to do if you have breast eczema during lactation? Treatment for breast eczema

Breast eczema during lactation is the most troublesome, because breastfeeding women still have to feed their children. If breast eczema occurs during lactation, we can relieve it by applying drugs such as Vaseline, but we must strictly follow the doctor's instructions.

1. The most common situation is that once women leak milk during breastfeeding, they often use a thick towel to pad their breasts to avoid getting their clothes wet. Because towels are often damp and the temperature inside is high, if this continues for a long time, it will cause nipple eczema. Nipple eczema in lactating women is relatively stubborn and difficult to cure. It can recur for a long time without healing and may become malignant at any time.

2. After breast eczema occurs , many dense millet-sized papules, cancerous rashes or small blisters often appear on the breast skin surface, with flushing and itching at the base. The rash is easily broken after scratching, resulting in punctate exudation and erosion, with a large amount of serous exudation, which may be accompanied by scabs, abrasions, and desquamation. After it turns into chronic eczema, the skin of the nipple and areola becomes thickened and rough, the nipple becomes chapped and pigmented, and the surface is covered with scales, accompanied by exudate and paroxysmal itching.

3. To prevent nipple eczema, when milk leakage occurs, you should change the above practices and do not try to stop the leakage. If milk is coming out of the non-feeding side while you are feeding, just let it flow freely. In addition, you can also put a piece of sterile gauze under the bra, change it at any time, and expose your breasts regularly, especially after breastfeeding, and wait until the nipples are completely dry before putting on clothes.

4. Applying Vaseline or tannic acid ointment on the nipples is also a good way to prevent and treat nipple eczema . These drugs can prevent milk from invading the nipples, but be careful to remove the drugs before breastfeeding.
