What to do if your menstrual flow is light after having an IUD inserted

Due to the pursuit of sex life, many women nowadays will choose some contraceptive methods that suit them, especially IUD insertion. This method is generally relatively convenient and is also sought after by many women. But what should I do if my menstrual period is less after having an IUD inserted?

For most people, it takes some time to adapt after having an IUD inserted, because it is a foreign body and contains drugs.

In our country, many places use IUDs as a female contraceptive tool. This so-called "IUD insertion" is a doctor using medical technology to insert a "foreign object" into a woman's uterus, just like taking medicine. It is normal for some individuals to experience side effects.

Heavy menstrual flow is a common symptom after IUD insertion. In addition to being related to the woman's physical constitution, it is also related to the IUD insertion technique and post-insertion care. After the ring is inserted, you need to pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Women should not work or engage in heavy physical labor immediately after having an IUD inserted, but should rest in bed.

2. Sexual intercourse between husband and wife is prohibited within three weeks.

3. Avoid taking a bath in a tub within four weeks to prevent bacteria from entering the lower body and causing infection.

4. Underwater operations and jumping exercises are prohibited within five weeks.

There is generally a six-month adaptation period after IUD insertion. If the menstrual flow is heavy, you should eat more iron-containing foods to prevent anemia caused by excessive menstrual blood. It is normal to experience lower abdominal discomfort within 3-6 months after the IUD is inserted. If you still have a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, back pain, abdominal pain, bleeding in the lower body, or menstrual blood volume more than twice the usual after 7 months, you should see a doctor. If there is no improvement, or if you have obvious discomfort, you need to remove or replace the IUD and use other contraceptive methods.
