What are the symptoms of intrauterine adhesions? Signs of intrauterine adhesions

Intrauterine adhesion is a relatively common gynecological disease. The main symptoms of this disease include amenorrhea, cyclical abdominal pain, etc. Some female friends may experience infertility or repeated miscarriages if the condition is more serious.

1. Amenorrhea. Patients with complete adhesion of the uterine cavity may experience amenorrhea, which may last for a long time, and treatment with estrogen and progesterone does not cause withdrawal bleeding. If there is partial adhesion in the uterine cavity or partial destruction of the endometrium, the patient will experience oligomenorrhea but normal menstrual cycle.

2. Cyclic abdominal pain . Generally, sudden spasmodic pain in the lower abdomen occurs about one month after an artificial abortion or curettage. More than half of the patients have an anal distension sensation. Some patients have severe abdominal pain, restlessness, difficulty moving, and even passing gas and defecation are painful, and sometimes there is a feeling of urgency and heaviness in the abdomen. The pain usually lasts for 3 to 7 days before gradually subsiding and disappearing. About a month later, cyclical abdominal pain occurs again and gradually worsens.

3. Infertility and recurrent miscarriage . Premature birth is prone to secondary infertility due to adhesion of the uterine cavity. Even if you become pregnant, you are prone to recurrent miscarriage and premature birth. Due to adhesions in the uterine cavity, damage to the endometrium, and reduction in uterine volume, the normal implantation of the embryo is affected.

Regarding the question of whether it is possible to get pregnant if you have intrauterine adhesions, if you have been diagnosed with intrauterine adhesions and want to have a baby, it is recommended to seek treatment as soon as possible and consider pregnancy after recovery.

This is because of two reasons:

1) It is not conducive to the implantation of fertilized eggs and is very likely to cause miscarriage. The scarring of uterine wall tissue and uterine cavity closure caused by intrauterine adhesions destroy the integrity of the endometrial layer, leading to physiological dysfunction and disorder of the endometrium, which is very unfavorable for sperm storage, survival and capacitation, as well as for the implantation of fertilized eggs, placental implantation and embryo development, thus leading to infertility and miscarriage.

2) Complications include fallopian tube adhesion and low pregnancy rate. Intrauterine adhesions are often complicated by fallopian tube blockage and obstruction. Due to congestion, edema, thickening and hardening of the fallopian tubes, adhesions, stenosis and even blockage occur in the tubal cavity, resulting in obstruction or poor circulation of the fallopian tubes, which prevents the sperm and egg from combining normally and smoothly, leading to an extremely low pregnancy rate.
