Does a breastfeeding mother still have milk during pregnancy?

Does a breastfeeding mother still have milk during pregnancy?

A liquid will be produced in a woman's breasts just after giving birth. This liquid is called breast milk, so breast milk is closely related to the hormonal changes in the female body. Basically all children grow up with their mother's breast milk, so the nutritional status of breast milk has a great relationship with the nutritional status of the pregnant woman. However, some breastfeeding mothers accidentally become pregnant. So, will they still have milk after they are pregnant?

Will the milk stop during pregnancy?

When you are just getting pregnant, your milk supply will not decrease significantly, but if the pregnancy lasts for more than 3 months, your milk supply will decrease significantly. This is because milk is produced through hormones and reflexes. Prolactin or other related hormones inhibit ovarian activity, so breastfeeding will delay conception and the onset of menstruation. However, as the pregnancy progresses, progesterone and estrogen levels rise, prolactin levels gradually decrease, and milk supply becomes less and less.

What are the dangers of pregnancy during breastfeeding

Pregnancy during breastfeeding is very dangerous for the mother, so new mothers are advised to take good contraceptive measures during breastfeeding. What harm will pregnancy during breastfeeding cause to the mother?

1. Increase postpartum risks. Pregnancy during the postpartum lactation period causes poor uterine involution. The fertilized embryonic sac implants on the uninvoluted uterine mucosa, which can easily cause complications such as placenta adhesion and placenta previa, forming many high-risk factors, and dangers may occur before, during and after delivery. In addition, the mother is weak after delivery and needs to increase nutrition to promote recovery. Pregnancy at this time can easily cause anemia and decreased body resistance, which is not conducive to the growth of the fetus in the womb on the one hand, and increases the possibility of postpartum hemorrhage and infection on the other hand.

2. It lays hidden dangers of disease. Getting pregnant again when the baby still needs breastfeeding and careful care will, to a certain extent, increase the physical burden on the new mother, easily cause delayed recovery of the body, and even lay the groundwork for disease.

3. Increase the risk of fetal birth. The various risk factors of pregnancy and postpartum breastfeeding can also easily lead to risks at birth for the newborn.
