Urine hcg negative but pregnant

Is it accurate that urine hcg is negative but pregnant? Experts indicate that HCG testing in blood is more accurate than HCG testing in urine. Information from the British Medical Research Center shows that nearly 6% of early pregnancy tests will show false negatives, that is, pregnant women will show negative results in early pregnancy tests. Among them, the vast majority of pregnant women with false negatives have blood HCG levels of 11-97 mU/ml. This level of HCG is within the normal range in the first month of pregnancy, but it may not be detected in early pregnancy tests. Therefore, if the menopause is less than 4 weeks, a blood test for HCG would be more accurate.

Early pregnancy tests are sometimes affected by other factors, such as other hormones. For example, LH hormone can sometimes react with the test paper and cause a positive result; hormones in the thyroid gland series may also affect it. Sometimes it is not clear what factors caused the positive test. In general, urine test strips are subject to more influencing factors than blood beta-HCG.

Generally, when we think we might be pregnant, we can do a urine pregnancy test at home to know the result. But in fact, urine pregnancy test is not 100% accurate, and in most cases, urine pregnancy test alone cannot help distinguish whether it is a normal or abnormal pregnancy. This is why doctors sometimes recommend blood HCG test.

HCG is a gonadotropin-producing protein hormone produced by embryonic chorionic trophoblast cells and is composed of two peptide chains (or subunits), &alpha and &beta. Among them, the α-peptide chain is similar to the α chain of LH, FSH and TSH, while the β-peptide chain is specific. Generally, HCG tests are used in pregnancy diagnosis and trophoblastic treatment.
