Is it normal to have an enlarged uterus?

Is it normal to have an enlarged uterus?

Many girls have no idea about uterine hypertrophy. In fact, uterine hypertrophy is also a common gynecological disease in women. However, the probability of this gynecological disease occurring in girls is very low. In addition, once this disease occurs, there are few symptoms. Therefore, girls do not know that they have uterine hypertrophy. This disease does little harm to the body. So is uterine hypertrophy normal?

1. Typical clinical manifestations:

The main symptom is increased vaginal discharge. In acute cervicitis, the leucorrhea is purulent, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, or bladder irritation symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating. In chronic cervicitis, the leucorrhea is milky white and mucous, or light yellow and purulent; in severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps, the leucorrhea may be bloody or there may be bleeding after sexual intercourse. In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the lumbar region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea, which worsens during bowel movements and sexual intercourse. In addition, sticky and purulent leucorrhea is not conducive to the passage of sperm and can also cause infertility.

2. Gynecological examination: Acute inflammation may cause cervical congestion, edema, or erosion, with purulent secretions discharged from the cervical canal, and there may be pain when the cervix is touched. Chronic cervicitis may show varying degrees of erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, and ectropion of the cervix, or purulent secretions at the cervical opening and a hard cervix upon palpation. If it is cervical erosion or polyp, there may be contact bleeding.

3. Cervical smear shows Pap grade II.

4. For patients with more serious conditions, a cervical biopsy can be performed to confirm the diagnosis. 5. It is difficult to distinguish cervical erosion or polyps from early cervical cancer. The latter has hard, brittle tissue and is prone to bleeding. It is necessary to rely on cervical scraping to find cancer cells, and to perform colposcopy and cervical tissue biopsy for differentiation when necessary.

Uterine hypertrophy is definitely abnormal. Although the symptoms or harm it causes are not serious at this time, once the disease cannot be controlled or the disease worsens, it will also cause great harm to the woman's body. In the face of this kind of uterine hypertrophy, it is still necessary to go to the hospital for regular treatment, and if necessary, timely surgical correction.
