Can I do vaginal ultrasound during menstruation?

Going to the hospital for regular gynecological examinations can not only allow women to discover whether they are infected with the disease more quickly, but also help everyone better understand their own condition, so as to better protect women's health. Vaginal B-ultrasound is a very common gynecological examination and plays a very important role in women's health. But we all know that women have menstruation. So can vaginal B-ultrasound be done during women's menstruation? What will the results be?

Vaginal ultrasound, also known as vaginal B-ultrasound, also known as intracavitary B-ultrasound, is a method of ultrasonic diagnosis by inserting the B-ultrasound probe into the vagina or rectum. It is particularly suitable for observing pelvic organs in the small pelvis. Compared with abdominal B-ultrasound, vaginal ultrasound images are clearer and more realistic, the results are more accurate, and the person being examined does not have to "hold urine". It is particularly suitable for ovulation monitoring, diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy, uterine space-occupying diseases, and diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome and chocolate cysts. For those who have had sexual intercourse, a vaginal examination can be performed, and for virgins, a rectal ultrasound examination can be performed.

Inspection method

1. It is usually performed after a routine gynecological examination.

2. Ask the patient to urinate and take the lithotomy position.

3. Cover the vaginal probe with a disposable condom and apply disinfectant coupling agent inside and outside the condom.

4. The operator wears gloves, holds the probe handle with his right hand, and slowly inserts the probe into the vaginal vault.

5. Tilt, push, pull, and rotate the probe handle during operation to observe the entire pelvic structure.

6. The patient needs to lie flat on the bed, relax the body and don't be nervous. Excessive nervousness will affect the examination results.

It is best not to do vaginal ultrasound during menstruation, firstly because of bacterial infection and secondly because it is not conducive to examination. It is best to do it after your menstrual period is over. If an ultrasound examination is urgently needed, it is recommended to do it when your menstruation is about to end, or use a transurethral B-ultrasound.
