Sometimes menstrual blood contains blood clots, which can also cause lower abdominal pain. The causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are mostly caused by diseases, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic congestion, etc. In recent years, it has been discovered that increased synthesis of prostaglandins in the endometrium can also cause dysmenorrhea.

During menstruation, women may experience mild soreness and distension in the lumbar region and heaviness in the lower abdomen. These are physiological and do not require treatment. But when the symptoms are severe enough to affect work and normal life and require medication, it is called dysmenorrhea. Those without organic lesions in the reproductive organs have primary dysmenorrhea or functional dysmenorrhea; those with organic lesions have secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary pain often occurs in unmarried or non-pregnant young women shortly after menarche.

Generally, the pain starts several hours before menstruation and is a precursor to menstruation. When menstruation starts, the pain gradually or rapidly intensifies and can last from several hours to 2-3 days. There are many kinds of medicines for treating dysmenorrhea, which can be taken under the guidance of a doctor. It is very beneficial to drink some brown sugar water before menstruation and the first two days of menstruation. You can eat more alkaline foods in your daily life: kelp, mushrooms, beans and bean products, vegetables, fruits, tea, etc.
