What is a pelvic cyst?

Pelvic cysts are more common in ovarian tumors, and this disease can occur in people of all ages. Pelvic cysts are mainly cysts that appear inside the pelvic cavity, which pose a certain threat to the health of the pelvic cavity. Patients need to understand the nature of the cyst, such as inflammatory. The occurrence of pelvic cysts is mostly related to repeated pelvic infections.

Pelvic cysts refer to all cysts that grow inside the pelvic cavity. To treat pelvic cysts, we must first clarify its nature, whether it is an inflammatory mass or other conditions. At present, when pelvic cysts are discovered, they should be treated promptly.

Pelvic cysts require comprehensive diagnosis and treatment based on the specific location, size, and nature of the cyst. If the cyst is relatively large, minimally invasive treatment with laparoscopic surgery can be used; if the cyst is small, medication combined with physical therapy can be used to promote the disappearance of inflammation.

Causes

Among gynecological diseases, adhesion or pseudocyst is the most common. In clinical practice, there are some similar cysts called peritoneal inclusion cysts, serosal cysts, mesothelial cysts, etc., which can be distinguished and diagnosed only pathologically based on the type and origin of the epithelium lining the cyst wall. The clinical manifestations and B-ultrasound images of this cyst are very similar to those of ovarian tumors. Clinically, it is often diagnosed as an ovarian tumor and undergoes laparotomy. Some inexperienced doctors often use simple cyst wall stripping and cyst cavity closure, which is the main cause of postoperative recurrence.

Pelvic cysts are mostly caused by repeated pelvic inflammatory infections. Due to long-term inflammatory stimulation, the tissues around the pelvic organs thicken and adhere, and anti-inflammatory drugs are not easily effective. Therefore, the disease is stubborn and recurs repeatedly, causing the patient's physical condition to weaken and recovery to be slow. The cyst is formed due to severe adhesions formed after pelvic surgery or inflammatory injury. The exuded cellulose-organized adhesions wrap around the secretory tissues of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, causing the secretions and exudates produced by them to gradually accumulate in the adhesion gaps and expand into a single cyst cavity.

For those with a history of peritonitis and lower abdominal surgery in childhood, the extensive adhesions that occur in their early years are the basis for later infertility or the formation of giant cysts. The walls of these cysts are mainly composed of fibrous connective tissue, which has no absorption function, and no epithelial lining is found in pathological examination of the cyst walls.
