What are the dietary restrictions for breastfeeding?

Breast milk is the purest natural food that is most suitable for the baby's physique. Breast milk contains more nutrients that the baby needs. Generally speaking, babies who are breastfed will have stronger constitutions. In other words, breastfed babies will grow better because there is no food more suitable for babies than breast milk. However, you still need to pay attention to your diet during breastfeeding. Here are some dietary taboos for breastfeeding.

1. Don't replace meals with fried potato chips, candies or cakes. Because these foods are usually high in calories, lack nutrition and are difficult to digest.

2. Spicy food: When a breastfeeding mother has a poor appetite, she will eat some spicy food to stimulate her appetite. However, this will aggravate the mother's internal heat, making it easy to develop mouth ulcers, constipation and other discomforts. Therefore, it is not advisable to eat irritating foods such as raw garlic, chili, pepper, fennel, leek, etc. within 1 month after delivery. During the entire breastfeeding period, mothers should also try to reduce the intake of such foods, because they will affect the baby through breast milk and easily cause the baby to get inflamed.

3. Cold foods that can reduce milk production: pig heart, duck meat, squid and other sweet and cool meats will reduce milk production, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid eating them.

4. Vegetables such as purslane, cucumber, wax gourd, bitter gourd, snake gourd, bamboo shoots, etc. are cold in nature and can cause gastrointestinal discomfort or milk regurgitation in breastfeeding mothers. Mothers with young babies should not eat them.

5. Fruits such as pears, watermelons, and citrus fruits are cold in nature, so mothers who are weak after giving birth should not eat them.

6. Other foods such as leeks and malt water can reduce milk production, so it is best not to eat them. Foods that babies are allergic to, such as oranges, onions, etc., can cause diarrhea and bloating in babies. In addition, mothers should observe whether the baby's skin has rashes and avoid eating foods that may cause allergies in babies.

The above introduces some dietary taboos that need to be paid attention to during breastfeeding. Mothers can use them as a reference for their daily diet. The mother’s diet is directly related to the health of the baby’s milk, because what the mother eats will be converted into milk and directly fed to the baby, so female friends who are still breastfeeding must pay attention to their own dietary health.
