What are the processes of using sanitary napkins?

Some adolescent girls may be using sanitary napkins for the first time. They don’t know how to use them and are too shy to ask their friends or parents for advice. First of all, this idea is incorrect. When you have your first period, it is best to tell your parents or your physiology teacher, so that some questions can be better answered. Here is a brief introduction to some usage of sanitary napkins.

In fact, sanitary napkins are not that mysterious. It's a "blood-sucking angel". It is an absorbent substance, the main materials of which are cotton pulp and polymer absorbent, which is used to absorb menstrual blood flowing out of the vagina during women's menstruation. The structure of sanitary napkins can be divided into the surface layer, inner layer, side edges and adhesive backing. The surface layer is the part that comes into direct contact with the skin, and its material must be soft. The surface weave and indentation determine the effect of absorbing menstrual blood without back seepage.

PE surface and cotton surface are the two most commonly used materials. The PE surface with a microporous design can prevent menstrual blood from seeping back, making the user feel dry and refreshed. However, the material is relatively hard and may cause allergic reactions in some users. Due to the improvement in cotton's absorbency design, its market share has gradually surpassed that of sanitary napkins with PE surface after 2001.

The inner layer is mainly made of cotton, non-woven fabric, pulp or a composite of the above materials to form a high molecular polymer and high molecular polymer composite paper, which is used to absorb the flowing menstrual blood. The side design is mainly used to prevent side leakage. Because it will be at a certain angle to the sanitary napkin body when used, it is more likely to rub against the groin. Therefore, sanitary napkins with sides made of soft material are more popular among women.

The adhesive backing of sanitary napkins is made of a waterproof material that can retain menstrual blood in the sanitary napkin. In the 1970s and 1980s, self-adhesive adhesive backing was developed to facilitate the fixing of sanitary napkins to underwear.

Girls should be careful when buying sanitary napkins for the first time. They must not blindly pursue sanitary napkins with large absorption. This is because sanitary napkins with large absorption often cover a large area. Sometimes, for convenience, a sanitary napkin may not be changed for a long time, which will easily breed bacteria and cause local skin redness and swelling. Therefore, you should choose sanitary napkins reasonably according to the amount of menstruation.
