Cervical function does not always mean that the length of the pregnant woman's cervix is less than 3cm. At the same time, the cervical opening is relatively loose, and the use of a dilator can easily pass through the cervical opening. Pregnant women with cervical insufficiency are prone to premature birth or miscarriage during pregnancy, and usually occur around 20 weeks of pregnancy. For patients with cervical insufficiency, bed rest has a certain effect on improving symptoms. However, the most important treatment for this condition is cervical cerclage surgery under appropriate circumstances. Only by performing cervical cerclage surgery can the function of the cervix be improved and the effect of prenatal care be enhanced. For patients who have been diagnosed with cervical insufficiency, cervical cerclage should be performed as soon as possible. Generally, the most appropriate time is 12-16 weeks of pregnancy.

Cervical insufficiency is generally classified into the following categories:

1. Congenital diseases. In this type of patient, the cervical wall is relatively thin, has exceeded its endurance or the cervical position has grown abnormally, and most of these patients have a small uterus.

2. Patients with cervical erosion may undergo cervical conization surgery, which usually leaves scars on the cervix. It will also continue to damage the function of the cervical muscles and even shorten the length of the cervix.

3. People who have personally undergone several abortion surgeries. When the cervical canal is relatively small, some lumps can force their way through the cervix into the uterus, causing the cervix to relax and even cause tearing.

Some patients with polycystic ovary generally have uterine and cervical insufficiency, and the occurrence of this condition is related to human growth hormone.
