What should I do if there is discharge from the female urethra?

Many women suffer from gynecological diseases, but because they are problems in private parts, they are often unwilling to see a doctor when the symptoms are relatively mild, allowing the disease to be delayed again and again. They only see a doctor when they feel really uncomfortable, but at this time the condition is already very serious. For example, some women find that there is a lot of secretions in their urethra. This should be a symptom of urethritis and requires timely treatment. There are two treatments for urethritis:

1. Qi and blood stasis type

The patient's symptoms include difficult urination, or foul discharge from the urethra, or abnormal vaginal discharge, lower abdominal distension and pain, dark tongue, white tongue coating, and a stringy and thin pulse. This is due to long-term illness entering the collaterals, or due to dampness and heat blocking the meridians, causing qi and blood stasis. Treatment should be aimed at promoting qi and blood circulation, resolving turbidity and relieving pain. The commonly used medicine is Gexia Zhuyu Decoction with modifications: Angelica 10g, Chuanxiong 10g, Red Peony 10g, Peach Kernel 10g, Citrus Aurantium 10g, Corydalis 10g, Notopterygium 10g, Linderae 10g, Cyperus 10g, Achyranthes bidentata 10g, Smilax glabra 30g, Talcum 20g, Raw Licorice 10g. If the urinary pain is obvious, add 30g of Hedyotis diffusa and 10g of Lophatherum gracile. The angelica, Chuanxiong, red peony root, peach kernel and aconite in this prescription all have the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, while the immature bitter orange, Corydalis yanhusuo, Linderae scutellariae and Cyperus rotundus can regulate qi and relieve stagnation, while the wild smilax, talcum powder and raw licorice can detoxify and eliminate dampness.

2. Spleen and kidney deficiency type

Symptoms include prolonged and incomplete urination, which occurs when exerting oneself, or white turbid discharge from the urethra. Women may have excessive leucorrhea, soreness in the waist and knees, loose and thin stools, a pale tongue, and a soft pulse. This is due to long-term illness not being treated properly, which damages the spleen and kidneys. Treatment should focus on strengthening the spleen and kidney, promoting dampness and clearing turbidity. The commonly used prescription is Sijunzi Decoction combined with Liuwei Dihuang Pills with modifications: Codonopsis pilosula 10g, Astragalus 30g, Atractylodes macrocephala 10g, Poria 30g, Dioscorea batatas 30g, Cornus officinalis 10g, Rehmannia glutinosa 10g, Alisma orientalis 10g, Cortex moutan 10g, Achyranthes bidentata 10g, Lonicera japonica 30g. The Codonopsis pilosula, Astragalus membranaceus, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos and Chinese yam in this prescription all have the effects of strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness; Cornus officinalis and Rehmannia glutinosa nourish the kidneys; Alisma orientalis, Moutan bark, Achyranthes bidentata and Lonicera japonica can eliminate dampness, promote blood circulation and detoxify.

The treatment method mentioned above is the syndrome differentiation and treatment method for female urethritis in traditional Chinese medicine, and it is very effective. If female friends have urethritis with secretions at the urethral opening, they should not be afraid to see a doctor. They must pay attention to timely treatment and let the doctor treat their condition symptomatically, so as to achieve early treatment and early recovery.
