What to do if your vagina becomes loose after giving birth

Mothers who have just given birth may have the following feelings. I just feel that my vagina is loose. What to do if vaginal loosening occurs after giving birth? This question will definitely trouble many mothers. So is there any relationship between vaginal relaxation and the mode of delivery? Today I will tell you the reasons why vaginal relaxation occurs after childbirth and what to do about it.

Vaginal relaxation refers to the decrease in tension in the pelvic muscles, which causes the muscles around the vagina to relax and the vagina to widen. There are many reasons for vaginal relaxation after childbirth, including: the fetus is too large (the head is too large), causing birth injuries during natural delivery; mid-term induced labor causing vaginal damage; multiple deliveries; lack of exercise after childbirth; blind weight loss during postpartum recovery, lack of attention to nutrition or excessive fatigue leading to poor recovery of the pelvic muscle groups, etc. For mothers who give birth naturally, since the fetus is delivered through the vagina, the diameter of the baby's head is generally about 10 cm at birth. That is, the vagina needs to expand to 10 cm during delivery (the normal vaginal diameter is 2.5 cm). After the squeezing of the baby at birth, the vagina expands significantly, the muscles and hymen scars are completely destroyed, and the elasticity is significantly reduced. However, although the mother's vagina changes after vaginal delivery, there will be varying degrees of vaginal relaxation. But it does not mean that natural childbirth is the culprit for vaginal relaxation, because the mother's pelvic muscles and ligaments will be fully extended when giving birth to prepare the birth canal for the baby's birth. Therefore, even mothers who have undergone cesarean section will have loose vagina.

After childbirth, changes that occur in female genitals include: ü Changes in the muscles inside the vagina ü Tears or episiotomies at the perineum, causing varying degrees of damage ü The vaginal opening becomes wider ü The pelvic ligaments become wider and the uterus is slightly larger than before Will vaginal relaxation affect sexual life?

Due to the varying degrees of changes in the vagina after childbirth, the friction during sexual intercourse is weakened, and the original ability of the vagina to "grip" the penis decreases, affecting the sexual pleasure of both husband and wife and having a certain impact on the quality of sex life. However, there are many factors that affect sex life. In addition to physiological reasons, the psychological adjustment of both husband and wife is very important, and the husband should be considerate and tolerant of his wife. As long as you pay attention to postpartum recovery exercises, the mother's vagina can generally return to its previous level three months after delivery.

Can the vagina be restored? The vagina itself has a certain repair function, and the expansion phenomenon that occurs after delivery can be restored within 3 months after delivery. But after all, the muscles in the vagina are damaged by squeezing and tearing, so it takes a longer time for the vaginal elasticity to recover. Postpartum mothers can do some exercises to enhance elasticity recovery and promote vaginal firming.

1. Hold your urine: During the urination process, consciously hold your urine for a few seconds to interrupt urination, and then continue urinating after a short pause. Repeating this process for a period of time can increase the tension of the muscles around the vagina.

2. Anal lifting exercises: When you feel the urge to defecate, hold your stool and do anal lifting exercises. Repeating this exercise frequently can help train your pelvic muscles.

3. Contraction exercise: Lie on your back, relax your body, gently insert a finger into the vagina, then contract the vagina and clamp it for 3 seconds, then relax, and repeat several times. The time can be gradually increased.

4. Other exercises: When walking, consciously tighten the inner side of the big toe and perineum muscles, then relax and repeat the exercise. Through these daily exercises, the tension of the pelvic muscles and the muscles around the vagina can be greatly improved, which helps restore the elasticity of the vagina and is helpful for sexual life. In addition to restorative exercises, postpartum mothers should also ensure that they take in essential nutrients to ensure muscle recovery.

After reading the above, I think everyone should understand that vaginal relaxation is not entirely due to giving birth but is more about the mothers’ own living habits. The reasons for vaginal relaxation after childbirth and what to do about it are also told above. I hope this helps you.
